I had exactly the same email when I took delivery of my new STi two weeks ago. However, I did receive the SMS with the appropriate user name and password and all seems ok.
Only other issue was that the manual with my car wasn't for the STi (didn't include DCCD, SI-Drive etc) - a letter to Subaru UK fixed that and a replacement manual was received next day in the post!

I think I've seen something of a more detailed user guide for this system that is fitted to the 08's somewhere online but I can't seem to find it now, thought it had a few more commands listed in it than the small booklet that I got with mine. Ring any bells with anyone? Also, am I meant to be quite proactive with this system or only react if someones trying to steal it or the car has already gone walkabout?

There's a more detailed user guide available for download from the Metasat site. You need to log in with your user name and password, then you can download the .pdf, which includes the additional commands. (or PM me and I'll send you a copy)

Lets hope you have more luck with your system than I have so far. It took 3 calls to the dealer to get it activated and in the first 3 weeks I had 6 texts on seperate occassions to tell me that my alarm had gone off, which it hadn't. Still, trying to be positive, it hasn't played up for 2 weeks

Yeah, I tested mine and it told me the car was at my house doing 0 miles per hour, which was correct. Not had any false alarms/alerts with mine, touch wood, so far. Just not sure whether I should be more proactive with it i.e. immobilising more manually or just let it sort itself out. I'll have a hunt around for the user manual on the web site. cheers. richard.

The online user guide has this text "IMM" command listed which is the one I was thinking of and isn't in the hand-book that comes with the car. The idea being you can remote immobilise the next time the cars ignition is turned off. I'm presuming this over rides the key which disables the cars immobiliser? Not that I'm travelling anywhere soon but I wonder should I use this command proactively if say I'm leaving the car at the airport for an extended stay and then text it off when I return? Any thoughts?

Ooh - three weeks in, and the false alarms are now coming thick and fast!...
It even goes off randomly when in the garage for now apparent reason! (circuit 16 - ultrasonics)
Yesterday the alarm went off three times on the work car park for no reason whatsoever! It's getting embarrassing now, and the number of credits on my metasat is rapidly depleting!!
Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

Mine is still playing up. Text at 03.00 2 days ago to tell me that the alarm was going off. It wasn't as it was parked beneath my bedroom window. The odd thing is that when I unlock the car, the alarm beeps to indicate that the alarm was activated
I spoke to Slip End Garage and they said that Subaru have told them that they think that it is a problem with the positioning of the aerial behind the dashboard. It's booked in for them to relocate it, the week after next. The problems is now that I have lost confidence in the thing and if ever it goes off again, I'll assume that it is a false alarm
