I agree on the grounds of pre 2006 owners not knowing what they have bought into, but I have to disagree that it's fair to tax at such a high rate when a spec D registered on the 22nd of March 2006 is half the tax of one registered on the 24th ! you do have to have a cut off but the philosophy behind the taxation makes a mockery of this kind of distinction They either meet the requirements of environmental policy or they don't, in which case all cars should be subject to review.

I've got a 56 and i didn't know about the new tax banding issue - whether i didn't look into it hard enough i don't know but it wasn't until i'd had it a couple of months that it was announced so you can shove the '06 sh!te and make it '07!

Just for the record, got my tax renewal through today and it's £400
