Default Thule roofbars

Hi all,
Does anyone have a photo of the Thule roofbars fitted? I'm trying to decide between the Subaru and Thule systems for cycle carrying, and from the search functionality it seems that there's a fairly decent split in peoples opinion.

Anyway - the downside i've seen mentioned of the Thule system is that there are clips of somekind that go onto the black plastic around the door(?) so I'm trying to understand what they are (hope that makes sense!) as the Subaru ones dont seem to have this.

Anyone got any photos or a better description of what is meant?

Cheers
Nick

<<<<<<<<<<<< View my Scooby.

Thule sits on rubber pads and is tensioned down to the plastic window surround. Makes quite worrying dents in the plastic when first removed, but after a while these disappear. Have done thousands of miles with 60kg load no problem. Roofbars easily completely removed (just don't slam the door before you've done them up fully ). Bars are transferable between vehicles, the feet need to be specific to the car.

Subaru roofbars AIUI attach to clips in the roof tracks. These can be fiddly to remove so a lot of people leave them in situ, which leads to wind noise. Obviously more expensive.

If you're interested, I have two standard Thule roof bars with foot packs to fit a classic (quick & easy change for newage) and two Thule Tour 510 bike carriers for sale in good condition, only been used a couple of times. Lock in place and rock solid whilst in use, highly recommended..... open to sensible offers, cost over £200 new.

I have the Subaru Mont Blanc Roof Bars

Yes I have left the four clips in place [Wind Noise???????] very easy to put on and off

Sits a little higher than the thule BUT DOESN'T INTERFER WITH THE DOOR RUBBERS

I have the Subaru ones, they were a PIG to fit first time, but I can now fit or remove in under a minute.

Once in place I reckon you could lift the car with them

And with 4 bikes on top I've had the car up to over the limit on a private road, with no distress to the roof, racks or bikes.

Thanks guys
When you say you fit them in under a minute - is that with leaving the 'tabs' on the car I guess?

If the Subaru one is really a Mont Blanc one can you just buy one from anywhere - or only the dealers?

Cheers
