Roof Bars MY03?
#1
I'm looking to fit Thule roofbars to my MY03 WRX Saloon.
Has anybody got these and if so which model feet / fitting kit did you get?
The website says Feet - 750, kit - 1210, but Halfords seems to suggest the 950 Feet with kit 021
Cheers

ooooh - can of worms!! I have been in a email ping pong with the the UK technical dept and Technical Director of Thule in Sweden (Jesper Leining) about this.
The brochures don't add up. The proper brochures are different to Halfords which are different again to Thule's website which in turn are different depending on country. Some say the Rapit Fit system works, some say you need the classic system.
This is what we deduced (after trial and error)for Rapid Fit
1. Footpack kit 750
2. Adapter kit 1210
3. Roof bars 120cm length
The rear is fine. With the front I had to place the footpack at the furthest extent of the bar,(35,5 from memory) which meant that I had to carefully tap the end cap in with a mallett!!
I have the emails still, so if the bugger fails I have a comeback. Anyway, I have carried my kayaks around with little difficulty now, but if you want further info mail me - it's a looong story.
Sorry about the non concise answer.

On my MY02 I looked at all the alternatives to the roof bars , and decided that the subaru ones were the best bet , if the ones for the MY03 are the same as mine they are made by Mont Blanc, who apparently are very good at roof bars. The Brackets only stick up around 4 - 5 mm above the gutter so not really noticable from a distance. And i`ve had no problems with it trying to detach from the roof. I regulary carry 6m and 7m flat water racing kayaks on the roof with no problems.
