Thanks for all the advice but!
I have decided to keep my ctr. I cant really justify the ever increasing fuel prices and insurance and the massive tax increases due soon. I wanted an sti as the wrx would not have been much of a performance increase so it would have to be an sti. But as above i dont want to hate the car for the expense that will follow.
So thanks for answering my questions anyway.

Well good luck and you'll always be welcome into the Scoobie fold. The CTR is a damn good car anyway - I just picked up a 55 plate as a daily driver (scoob is for weekends lol) and I really love it. A bit too easy to spin the front wheels though

i went from a ctr 8 months ago to a sti, the ctr is a realy good car but the scoob is in a different league, the fuel int that much different and i just had my car mot'd and serviced for half the price than my ctr by a subaru specialist. I would highly recomend you get an sti you would not regret it and the tax is only £100 more a year than the ctr i think.
