Gotta say, i'd take the Evo.
If you're lOOking for a pilot so you can see before you sell the R which is faster. I'm happy to oblige, but i'm in the Evo.

Evo 9 is more of a everyday car its newer feels nicer to sit in people dont look at you as drug dealer / boy racer as much.
sometimes i feel a bit sheepish pulling up in the scooby if am going out somewhere in the evening. Its not so bad in the evo.
The evo feels more solid as in no rattles or bangs.
No headache or ears ringing after a 2hr drive.
For a 8 year old car the sti type r runs rings around it not for comfort or luxury just racing in small back roads the evo has more power which you can feel it but by the time that powers comes in to play the sti has already said good bye!
its a tuff one both are very good cars a easy way to put it... more smile factor in the sti type r I’ve been really impressed with type r.
the evo suffers from brake fade and overheats starts crying after 30mins of hard driving.
Even on the top end I’ve had both side by side at *65 MPH
lol oh well think iv’e duffed my chances of selling the evo on here now!

heres the pics and video.
evo 9 fq 360 vs sti 6video link
its in quicktime.
i have more videos but not sure if to put them on the net!
this isnt a one off its been done many times again and again.
just the 1st time ive made a video of it the also the lad in the evo can drive.
both were launched 5k-7k rpm none of them spun the wheels too much.
both kinda got a perfect start.
videos a bit fast so i have some screen shots.
at the start evo is in front about 2-3 ft
both more of less level now
type r pulling away now.
still pulling away
close to a full car length now
still in front .. the evo couldnt make up the distance i couldnt look at the speed but am guessing it was close to 90-100mph

The Evo lX is newer and more solid and is certainly a great car...
...but your video certainly makes us Type R owners very happy!
There's clearly not a lot in it.
Mark.

soz man.
the type r has been sold ive taken deposit off another memeber on here
https://www.scoobynet.com/private-sa...ar-2000-a.html
should be collecting soon if not today.
dont know why am selling it mixture of always filling it up more or less everyday with high fuel prices and always spending too much time messing about with it.

yes 100% standard apart from.
i got new wheels put on the evo 18" ultra lights. running at 1.5bar boost it does feel a little diffrent with the new wheels am thinking about changing back to the standard 17" wheels.
scooby has coil overs and 18" wheels runing 0.9 bar boost.
i was a bit shocked also at the results too.

so up the bar of the sti to 1.5bar then see what the difference is
mind the sti is running 280 and the evo 360
if it were me i would keep the evo but fit the sti lump lol!!!

In that short time, maybe up to 60mph.
As already mentioned, tbh, you are the best person to judge which is faster, due to owning both........
Personally would go with the evo, newer, more reliable, but I do love the look of the typeR.

No offence mate, I know both cars are fast, but no chance they were doing anywhere near 100mph, maybe 100km/h lol

we carried on to the end of the road.
if you want to be fussy -2 secs before launch still leaves 10secs .. loads of time!!!!!
0-60 on a evo fq 360 is around quote "4.0s" type r is not far off.
#21
i thought the v6 type r were closer to 300hp? and the older ones around 280hp
its the weight + gearbox + quick spool + tmic / little lag that helps it.

The Evo for me... but then the money you spent on the Evo could have bought a newer Scoob. Evos always win the beauty contest (well until they did the X) but for me the scoob is a better all round car, hence why I bought one.
Saying that... Evo IX or XI and I really could be tempted to go to the dark side myself... especially by the IX RS or the XI Tommy mak. But then in this league there's the RA-R or the S204... age old problem that only the individual can decide as there really is nowt in it.

You're right Mikkel, only the individual can really decide with two cars as good as these...I completely disagree with the rest though because I think it's the Scoob that wins the beauty contest (certainly the classics ) and it's the Evo that is the better all 'round car.
I've also believed that you need a 'hardcore' Scoob or something well modified to take the fight to the Evo's performance wise, everthing else being equal etc...
Mark.

And how is the evo standard running 1.5 bar?
Also as mentioned below, I feel the type-r wins it in the looks department.
Altho to be honest, i like ugly and fast, rather than good looking and slow....

For your poll question; and as the position of a driving mere-mortal, I'd have to go for the FQ360. In a drag there might not be much in it, but the Evo is *SO* easy to drive at pace on a good road - I think its far to say the STi would be a less relaxing drive to stay in front/keep up in.
