Has anyone peaked by purchasing their Subaru?
I cant imagine what my next car will be. Unsure if I could better the scoob especially if I start a family!
Whats everyones next car? Have you peaked or still increasing?!

Thats pretty much why i haven't sold mine.
Have fancied an Evo 6 or 7, but can't justify selling mine and still having to find another £5-6k for what'll be pretty much the same performance.

I would imagine we're talking about the majority of people here who spend between £10,000 and £20,000 on their car..
I'm probably going to get something sensible-ish for my next car.. and have a Westie/Caterham/Tiger/etc as my performance toy.

I didn't know what to get after my Scooby figuring that fast, safe, fun saloons in the £10k price bracket were pretty rare so I went the other way and got a diesel. Once I got bored with that, I went for an R33 GTR
Now I really have peaked unless I win the lottery!

the impreza aint the best car in the world, yes its good, but at the end of the day subaru give you a blank canvas and then you have to spend shed loads of money making it what it should of been. the reason its so cheap is because if subaru would of made it like you all do with your mods, then they would of had to of charged you 30k+. the majority of the scoobs on here are modified, why? cos there not that good out of the box thats why.
i had a bugeye wagon that was modded and it was stolen a few weeks ago, i now drive a st tdci and its fecking superb. i still have a nice lookin car but with the practicality of the space and creature comforts like heated seats. i dont get stared at cos people think im racing everywhere cos my exhaust is stupidly load and i also dont have to worry about where i park it.
yes the scoobs are good but there not the best

I wanted a Subaru Impreza for around 5 years until I got one. It was my dream to own and modify one.
Now I've done it, I want more.
Either an Sti or an Evo 6. Something I can take to 400bhp. .................................................. .................and I'm 29 with 3 kids and its my daily driver. ...................you only live once, enjoy it.

yep mate of mine has just got one of these, same colour, he took me out for a spin, despite the fact the build quality and general finish was awsome, up to a ton i believe the old scoob might of just kept up but after that the m3 shown huge power and just kept on pulling no chance of a fairly standard sti keeping up im afraid unlike the m3 before this

I've an SL spec wagon- I really don't know what more toys you'd put in it, apart from maybe sat nav? and that could be done.
I guess only thing another car would have would be an MPG trip comp and I'm not surprised Scooby don't fit them !!!!!
I can see the way fuel is though- it'll be an A6 Audi diesel estate perhaps in the future (I need the practicality) and I refuse to get a w*nker truck or some crappy wallowy 4 x 4
although subaru have lost me with new model- never be buying one of those.

I reckon it depends on what car you really need as much as what you can afford:
If you want a quick daily driver and can afford to spend rather more than the price of a new Subaru, the names that get dropped on here everyday are M3, RS4, RS6, 911, Coxster (Cayman to some), which I believe are curiously all German (or is the Coxster from Finland?).
If you just want a weekend fun toy and don't need it for the kids because you've got a reliable daily workhorse parked outside, then a Caterham, proper Lotus or a real classic car would be the way to go. This is the category I fall into. It's hard to say if that constitues "peaking" though in comparison to a Scooby and who knows what cards fate will deal me over the coming years: I could end up with anything from a Bugatti Veyron (unlikely) to a Sinclair C5 (probably)!

I've peaked. I'll never have £17k for a car and be able to spend another £11-12k on it.
Still don't mind window-shopping though.
Got the horn for a Classic RA at the minute.

I'm very happy at the moment with my STI Type R, but despite what I think on first purchase, I know I'll want a change eventually. If I'm on or about where I am at the moment it'll probably be a Spec C or later model Evo.
If things were to go well, or I was to lose my house, wife and kid, then it would defo be a GT3 or GT2 no question.
With the price of fuel though, the price of tax, and the emissions stranglehold, sometimes I really think this'll be the last performance car I ever get the chance to be able to own...
Mark.

Who hasn't thought about that.
A friend of mine lost the lot, so bought a Ferrari 360 Modena and lives in his mates garage. No better midlife crisis than that.

When I change, that will have to be definitely to a Honda S2000... A much slower car, but I'm "sick" of having to go bollocks if you want to enjoy what a Subaru is...

It's funny how your requirements and desires change. As you get older and your family grows you begin to appreciate how much more you can do with your money. I've just come back from the Fiat dealer having had a pre-delivery goosey at the Mrs' new Fiat 500 and would dearly love one of the Alfa 159 3.2V6s with red leather that was parked up next to it. But the thing is that my Civic will be finance free in a year and it is virtually like new. If you add the finance payments of the Alfa to its higher running costs you'll be looking at the thick end of £1000 a month. Ten years of £1000/month overpayments would see me pay off my mortgage 15 years early, saving £200,000 and would tie in nicely with Blueblaster junior hitting secondary school age and requiring higher private school fees. So, do you give your child the best education you can afford and use the money saved on the mortgage to take them on life-enriching trips all over the world or do you buy the fancy car?
For once I am not preaching, but maybe this helps a few people appreciate that making the best use of your income is, for some people, more important than having a highly desirable car on the driveway.

Blueblaster, how about giving up beer, **** takeaways, going out etc then start shoping at Aldi, do loads of overtime then I might be able to give it to the kids for uni as well.
I think I'll ejoy my own life, as I'm only here once and encourage my kids to do the same.
