Default Whats it worth? 04 STI

Been to look at a Scoob over the weekend, it's a 2004 STI with some mods (see link below). Low mileage and in good cond, apart from a few usual stone chips etc. One owner from new.

https://www.scoobynet.com/private-sa...p-340lbft.html

Seller would like 13k for it and won’t budge on price. Only thing that puts me off with it is the stickers, not really my thing so would want to take them off but not sure what the aftermath of this will be so currently deciding what to do?!?!?

Just looking for some opinions on what you would expect to pay for a car of this age, spec etc. From looking around there are some cheaper and some more expensive ones with varying mods.

Appreciate your thoughts/comments.

Seller wants £13k so if you want it buy it. Any car is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay, not matter how many of us tell you how much we think it is worth.

I would also say that he says he would be happy with £16k, so would I for a car that age, on average a car loses 50% value in 3 years so I think he is a bit ambitious.

13k seems a good price IMO. It has a lot of money spent on it.

I completely understand where you are coming from with the graphics, i'd feel the same.
A quick search on Autotrader brought up a few 04 STI PPP's for under £13k (one in blue is £11,995) so to be honest mate, if you are not going to be 100% sure about what would happen when you removed them i'd walk away.

i am sure the graphics will come off without a problem
and if you want the car ask the vendor to remove them
as a condition of the sale
and this car is not just a ppp

It is well worth the 13k imo although I agree with the graphics. If they are easily removed get the seller to remove them prior to handing over the bulk of dosh.
I couldnt see the mileage listed?
As a guide mine (view my scooby) went for £11700.

Already discussed with seller re removing stickers. He says he isn't going to have the time to do it as he is shortly going to be moving house.

Mileage is around 23k miles from what I remember.

He was asking for offers to start with, which is where he came up with 16k, then said thats out of my budget. He then came back to me after he had a look around at the current market and changed price to 13k.

I've just sold mine for £13.6k (29k) which is looking more and more like a steal.
Mine had similar graphics on when I bought it three years ago and they came off with no issues/ marks to the paint. Will only take a few hours to rmove (if that)

I dunno,

Im probably going to put mine up for £14k-ish. Its got 10K more miles that yours, but I like to think its a little bit more special to make up the difference.

I hate to say it, but 16K is a bit high for that one IMHO.

I think you really have to want this car. The mods make it useless to any mainstream dealer who will have to pass it onto a specialist or put it into an auction. That means you are going to get a royal nut-kicking when you come to trade it in or be faced with the same problem as the current owner if you try and sell it privately. I think the only reason anyone would buy this car would be if they intended to do similar mods because that is the only way it makes any sense.

Just to be clear, I am not saying this is a bad car. From what people are saying it looks to be a very good example. However, I doubt there is a more difficult car to sell at an acceptable price than a heavily modified Impreza and there is no reason why this should change in the future. Put your common sense hat on with this one and if you still like it (and can afford to run it) good luck.

Ahh Rob, there you are. Do yourself a favour and buy mine - might even knock some more £££ off...

Buying a stickered up car is like buying an old house i.e. anything could be lurking underneath.

I can understand what your saying re the mods, im not too bothered with finding a scoob with many mods, long as it's something above standard with at least a PPP etc then not really bothered, just this one I would be getting more for my money so to speak.

This guy has already agreed I can have it for 13k (this my maximum budget and ideally would like one under this) but won’t budge from there with regards coming to a compromise removing graphics/lowering price for me having the "hassle" of removing them.

It sounds really harsh to say this, but in the current economic climate and with the type of car in question the buyer holds all the cards. It sounds like you can stretch to £13k but don't really want to as it will leave you skint. So all I am going to say is I reckon you can get it for less than £13k.

wouldn't say it will leave me skint, I just don’t want to spend more than that on a car at the moment as it still has to be maintained/ran etc.

The seller knows im not a fan of the stickers etc and as he doesn't want to take them off before sale I tried to use this as a bargaining tool (knocks some money off for me taking the car how it is) but he didn't want to budge/back down on the 13k so to me he doesn't seem to want to help himself sell his car if you know what i mean.
