Default IM nearly stalling? What is it? MAF?

my My04 STI has developed a small fault

The recent snow killed the battery so bumped it and drove it to its MOT place. I noticed that the car would very nearly stall when stopping at a junction, sometimes cataching an idling as low as 200rpm. I put this down to the battery being flat and the car running of the alternator.

Except now the battery has been changed and the problem still exists. Now the battery was completely dead, not even lights on the dash or hint of the alarm going off.

Has this highlighted a dreaded MAF failure :-( or is there something else? Repeat, the problem did not exist till it was covered in snow for 4 days.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like it, mine suffered similar as result of a failing MAF. Get it on a ECU monitor to confirm, and get it replaced asap.

~ £70-80 iirc, 15-30mins to install, so depends on the dealer.

The dreaded MAF failure was on the classics. The newer cars have a re-designed MAF which is more robust.

So unlikely to be your MAF IMHO.
