Default New tyres

Time has come to replace my tyres, and I've been advised to try a company called etyres.com. Apparently they're relatively cheap and very good, they come to your house to fit the tyres etc.

So, here's what I'm looking at:

Currently I have the Bridgestone RE050's, which I'm thinking about going for again. But looking down the list I can see YOKOHAMA - S306's are only 80 quid each. Anybody know if they're any good? Or rubbish? Which would you go for?

Also, when I put my tyre number in on the original screen, it asks whether I want reinforced, 6 ply or 8 ply. Not sure what all that means? (yes I'm a nub).

Personally I would never go for RE050's again. I had these as standard on my CTR and found them to be shocking in the wet, infact it didn't even have to be wet it just had to think about being wet and they would let go.
Cracking tyre in the dry though, just a massive shame the wet weather capabilities weren't up to much.

I can't see past the Eagle F1 GSD3's, had them on my mkIV Golf and the scoob came with these also, when I replace my tyres in the next few months I will be looking to get another set as they perform well in all conditions, although a mate is looking to get the F1 Assymetrics so will see what he makes of them, but either way I'd imagine I'd be sticking with some form of Eagle F1.

Personally, If I was you, I'd go for Michelin Pilot Sport 2's.

Used these on my last 2 cars. I think they're one of the best tyres around. Quite alot of performance cars have these as standard, or as optional second choice.

Prodrive recommend these as well as Pirelli Pzero's.

I've just had some Yokohama Parada's fitted at my local garage. £82.50 each, on that site they're £109

I have been very happy with these tyres which get a very good rating on tyretest site:-

Another vote for KUMHO, cheapish but perform pretty well wet and dry.

Just fitted F1's to mine and they are brill, wet stuff no probs and only 315 quid for 4 225/45/17 ain bad

i have s306 not that good in the wet/damp but good in the dry, i had parada's on before and they were brilliant tyres thinking of going back to them next. also try here these seem good for tyres

Over the years the F1s seem to a consistent favourite on here.
Agree with your left foot braking comment in driving dynamics as well.
Get F1s - Run higher pressures in the fronts than rears.

F1 asymmetrics are the tyre to go for, trust me..

I'd stay away from directional tyres on a scoob. According to Mike wood, of all the tyre's they've ever tested, one thing was apparent, directional tyres make an impreza squirmy (newage anyhow)..
