Just been quoted £90+vat for front brake pads + £16+vat to fit from a Subaru Dealer.

The car is a standard MY99 with no mods.

Does this seem about right ?

Thanks.

Probably about as cheap as they get from a dealer (well the labour bit anyway).

Talking

Halford's have just been on the phone to confirm the pads will be arriving on Wednesday.

I asked if they were definitely for the 4-pot calipers and they confirmed.

Still not convinced until I get them !

Yes, I was thinking of changing the pads myself, or at least supplying the dealer with the pads.

Halfords have quoted £24.99 for front pads (Mintex ones). Still waiting to see if they can come up with the goods.

For £24 they won't be 1155's, which is the most common replacement pad for Scooby's (I've used 2 sets). They're probably 1144's or something less.
Not sure, but the Scooby will probably eat these up in no time.
Saying that if you do fit 1155's they'll waste the standard disc's instead.

I could be talking s**te

Darren.

Be very careful

Some time ago when we supplied M1155 as our upgrade, several customers bought what they thought was the same spec from a local motor factor. When you drove the car it was immediately apparent that they were just their std compound as they didn't work the second time you pressed the pedal at speed!

I know we all feel that the std pads aren't up to the job, but they are of very high quality and performance compared to those fitted by most car manufacturers.

Fitting 'cheap' replacement pads will be a retrograde step.
