Carbon fibre airbox heatshield
Anyone seen such an item for sale? I was thinking that it would be a better heat barrier than say aluminium etc.....and looks a bit nicer too

Like this ...........
Not purchased from anywhere but made it myself. ......i could not believe how affective it works,it has made a huge difference to the temp of filter after a good thrashing.
I just need a couple of stickers on it i reckon...

Your not the first to ask that......i managed to get the carbon off fleabay for £60 and still had a sheet left over...the vertical piece that the intake pipe goes through is 4mm carbon sheet from the floor well of a Dodge Viper race car. The top piece is 2mm thick and the whole thing is held together using ali angle and stainless rivnuts.I made it from cardboard untill it was perfect and then using a jigsaw with a fine metal blade to cut and some fine wet and dry to finish....I wrapped the Hot pipe from turbo with exhaust wrap and taped with aluminium foil and cladded the inside of the box using the same method.
It gets a cold air feed from above the headlamp at the moment but am planning to make a headlamp duct using a morette style unit...

Problem with making one is that it was custom made for my setup,as the filter sits directly behind the headlamp and i have removed the waterspray, carbon cannister and have no abs...the box would have to be made with the vehicle in front of me.......
If a roofer can do it then i,m sure you will manage........lol
