'Nuff said.
Was contacted yesterday by the dealer who I bought my new MY01 WRX wagon from. They told me to return my service book for it to be replaced with a new one with 10,000 service intervals.
Must admit, I have mixed feelings. OK, a few £££ saved in the next few years, but I've always been a fan of frequent oil changes in all my previous cars.
VERDICT: If you don't qualify for the new intervals, your engine will be probably be happier for the extra money spent on it.
eM out.

This is sooooo confusing!
had my 1000 service the other day and i asked about this.
the girl gets a writen directive from under the desk. i was told if the thirteenth digit is a 1 you dont qualify but you do if its a 2 (MY01 as agaist MY02)
Yes i fully agree freequent oil changes are a must, if i do get the 10K i will still have the oil and filter change ever 5K.
Still cheaper in the long run.

Rang dealer up,T.H.Whites, they confirmed the 10K service now for my car.
Have to have an interim service for the dif between the 7,500 & 10K service, then 10K mile interval.
Sounds good to me.

I got a Belgian MY01 on September 1st 2001.
It's in for 7500 service on Monday.
Heritage Leicester say all UK MY01's have 10K services now, not Euro imports - it depends on the countrys equivalent of IM.
The 7500 is a cheap service £108 or something like that, so I'm not too concerned.
Hopefully when it's time for the 15/20K service things will be clearer.

Its that light round the ignition key that nakes all the difference or it's a marketing strategy to reduce the TCO.
Very confused situation at the moment, my MY01 is due for it's 15K service soon. Still waiting to hear if the 10K applies to mine and if it does what service(s) I actually have to have done.

Dropped my service book back in yesterday. My UK MY01 has done 8k, so I asked about the next service interval which would be 20k ..
They have advised to get a 10k service done at 1 year (April), which was what I was going to do anyway. For the sake of a few quid, I'd rather know that the oil&filters are in decent shape.
Cheam's UK Sti came in on Thursday btw, had a poke around (nice...) but no opportunity to take it for a drive as it hadn't been through delivery service yet ... maybe next week when I'm casually passing .......

Nobles in Penicuik confirmed that service intervals now 10k. Took mine(reg Aug2001 - my01) in for 7.5k and next is at 17.5 or 1 year.
Oh it's a dutch import by the way!
