Thinking of selling after just 2 weeks??
I have only been driving my scooby for a couple of weeks now and i am already thinking of selling. I absolutly love the car it sounds awesome and it is by far the best driving experiance i have had, handles amazing and pulls like a train but....
my god it's thirsty!!!!! at £1.16 a litre and only getting around 160 miles to £45 it's already becoming a joke. I was aware they are poor on petrol but i had no idea i would be gettin this poor mpg
So until i earn more money i think its goin up for sale

I personally think that you should be getting a bit more MPG for your car. I used to get about 230miles to £50 on a heavily modded Blob eye and that was mainly slow 2nd to 3rd gear stuff with a bit of booting is when I could.

Trying to sell an Impeza is very hard at the moment .... selling one after 2 weeks ownership is an impossibility IMO.
No dis-respect, but if you have been caught out for a few pence per litre, you bought the wrong car!

If i was getting that sort of mpg i would keep it, i drove to work this morning under 3k RPM gentle accleration, its not like i even use it to its potential enough to warrant such poor mpg hmm decisions

If i was pushing the car making it drink petrol then i would understand but i never drive it fast because of how thirsty it is, but i bought the car for its performance and it would be nice to get to have a bit of fun in it but if i do i think i would be gettin about 10mpg!!

If you are getting less than 200 miles on a tank then either you are very very heavy footed or there is something seriously wrong with the car.My Spec C gets 230 miles+ to a tank and it has the smaller tank and hasnt been mapped yet

I see your point but i never thought it would cost me this much to run, the petrol cost/litre didnt fuss me but i hoped i would get at least 200 miles to that sort of money.

A high performance car has its comprimises fella, you cant have lots of power under your right foot and expect 30 to the gallon, Mine is an occasional car so i dont worry too much about petrol prices and mpg, If i have the money i go out and have some fun, simple

160 miles to a tank sounds a bit much for what sounds like a standard wrx being driven easy.i would have someone who knows their stuff have a look, really sounds like somethings wrong somewhere.....they are'nt easy but yours is the hardest ever!

If I were you I would give it a little longer, my bet is that you have just got it and are still in the "play" stage, you will be booting it in places you wouldnt normally boot it, and loving the noise it makes when you boot it. in a few weeks the novelty period will go and you start to drive it normally and your fuel economy will return.
thats what I did anyway.

Fill the car up. Go for a drive at 80 up and back down a motorway and fill it up again to see how much fuel you've used over the distance you've covered.
Then use MPG calculator UK miles per Gallon - calculate MPG and you'll see your MPG at normal motorway speeds.
Do the same ragging the tats off it or just driving around a town and then you'll have two correct figures.
Once you've done both let us know what you get.

I would agree with what has been said above with regards to how you are probably driving at the moment and the fuel consumption. Also, a faulty component such as a Lambda sensor could make it use upto 25% more fuel than normal.
I have just converted my classic WRX to LPG so that I can enjoy the car at a lower cost. I do 50 miles per day and it was costing me over £10 in Optimax just to go to work and I ain't paying for that privalige. It now costs me £6 to do the same journey.

Seems really bad fuel consumption to me!
I have a modded UK classic running 325Bhp and get 220 miles to about 48/49 litres of fuel.
When I originally bought the car and went down to my local garage Alan Jeffery - Engine Tuner the car made 283Bhp, eventually I had the car remapped by Alan & Martyn Jeffery who worked their magic and increased the power.
To my surprise they said the car was being overfuelled and even though power had increased from 283Bhp to 325Bhp my fuel consumption got better! As said I now see 220 miles from a tank when I was previously only getting 190.
Maybe getting the car checked out wouldnt be a bad thing? You might be like me and also get better fuel consumption!

I get 210-220 miles a tank from my STi (280 bhp) & that's just 12 miles a day (so probably the worst kind of commute for economy) & Im not exactly driving like Miss Daisy either

I do two 13 mile a day trips (work and back) and drive it like miss daisy lol, i think it needs a specialist by the sounds of it. cheers for the advice guys

Definitely seems poor fuel consumption to me too. I drive an 03 Blob STI making over 400bhp and I recently returned 246 miles on 3/4 of a tank (43.4 litres). OK, a lot of that was Motorway cruising but at least 70 miles was mixed A and B roads with the odd blast . I would get it checked out - you may well get better performance and economy as a result

First off, work out what you'd lose by selling the car so soon vs what you'd hope to save in fuel over, say, the next two of three years by buying a different car. Chances are that, however painful it might be at the pumps, you're still better off than you would be if you took the hit on the car upfront.
My '00 UK spec Impreza did about 24mpg, my '05 JDM STI around 22, and my current car - a '95 STI - returns about 27. If you're getting much worse than that, then I agree with the above - you may have a problem. If yours is a '92 car then it's one of the oldest around, and so almost any component(s) could simply be worn out. Fingers crossed it's just a sensor or something equally straightforward to fix.
(If it's any consolation, I've just spent over £800 trying to sort out a fairly minor loss of economy and throttle response on my BMW 330d... now all I need to do is drive to the moon and back and I'll have saved the difference in diesel!)

I just had an MOT done and the Lambda sensor was replaced as the old one was readin low apparently and failing the emmisions test. It passed with the new one in place is there any other sensor it could be im not too sure what could be causing it to be so poor on petrol. I would love to keep it but i keep throwing money at it that i dont have anymore. the mot cost me £350 and it didnt have anything that major done to it, just a CAT put on and few minor bits i think the sensor was near £100

Hmmmmm, the bloke doesn't like spending a few pennies more on each litre - I'm sure a £600+ Re-Map will do nothing to settle his fear of spending money!
Anyway, it's far more than a simple re-map can cure ...... somethings wrong somewhere and it ain't the standard map!

I get 115 miles to £35, only go to the gym and friends really, even if i do or don't boot it that figure always stays the same, learn to live with it or buy a fezzy popular plus, just the joys of owning a scooby and i love every bit off it

i worked your costings out mate and it worked out to 18.5 miles to the gallon.
that is a bit low.
I have a focus ST which only does around 20 mpg around town steady.
i thought that was bad. 32-35 on a long run.
hope you sort things out mate.

Just quickly worked mine out (STI V3) and it looks fairly bad too. 300k to 3/4 of a tank
Mixed driving some hard some slow off boost.
If the gauge is right that’s 400k to a full tank max.

i average 50 miles for a tenner..so yours is drinking somewhat... maf issue? needs a service ? all possibilities.... they are the wrong car for fuel economy...my skyline is better by 10 miles per tenner .... we have a wee siecento that does 100 miles for a tenner regardless of how you treat it.. buy something like that for your daily hack !!

If its any consolation mate my 06 WRX which is standard apart from prodrive back box drinks 40 litres doing 175 miles (just under 20mpg), admittedly most of that is city driving, but it's only 1 mpg less than my mini cooper S was doing so I'm fairly used to it.
