I've got the above fitted to the standard 17" wheels on my 05 STI, They've only got about 4k on them so plenty of tread left , but they do Tramline lots . I've had the geometry adjusted , and am about to have Prodrive springs fitted too . I just wondered if anyone else noticed they seemed to tramline more than usual or is it just me (the previoius Bridgestones did too , but were on their last legs when I got it)

What tyre pressures are you running, when did you last check them?

Hi Dave - I've been running these (excellent tyres) since July and noticed no tramlining to speak of when I had them fitted. However, now they're pretty worn down (and due for imminent replacement) they're tramlining quite a bit. But even so, nothing like the Bridgestone RE070s used to It might be worthwhile getting your geometry checked.

I also run these tyres in 18" and just had my geometry done by powerstation and i have no problems whatsoever nor did i before the geo setup

 

Just seems to follow every rut in the road , even at very low speeds ie in traffic jams , the front wheels will follow the dips in the road and yank the steering wheel around in your hand

 

Pressures are quite high Stu (about 34 ish IIRC), I generally check them every few weeks . fingers crossed for the Prodrive springs helping things out a bit I guess

Dave, I think at those pressures you are way too low - when I had mine fitted by Zak, I was told 38front 34rear and at those pressures, I have had no problems whatsoever - sooooo much nicer than the REO70's!

Have a word with Zak to double check.

 

I run em too, no tramlining that i notice but then i dont notice things like that as im used to it with the RE070s lol

Thats way too high all you will do there is cause wear to the centre of the tyre and reduce overall grip.

34f / 31r seems to be a good pressure to run on most tyres for an STI

 

38 was a bit jumpy for me looie, I run 36/34 which is best I have found.

Get the pressure too low on a 40 profile and the tyres squeal too much on bends

 

I have a set of these on the STi 8 in 17". I have not experienced any tram lining. Good tyres.

 

With regards to pressure, a couple of pointers:

Firstly use a decent gauge, not the one at the garage..!

Second, indicated pressures are from cold, so check first thing in the morning. If you drive to the garage >1mile you could see as much as 4psi over a cold tyre..!

Don't believe it, try it. Test pressures cold and then again after a STEADY drive, let alone a spirited one..!

I invested in a cheap foot pump (were half price at Halfords recently) which allows me to check and adjust with cold tyres..
