Default SCOOBY WR1 0-60 = 4.25

Hi im thinking about buying another scooby and am leaning towards the wr1. as they are limited to 500 i have not come across anyone with one and just wondering has anyone on this site got one or owned or know much about them. there 0-60 time is quicker than a m3 or fq340 and they are 316bhp set up for our roads and petrol stations............. are they worth the money or is a sti ppp better value ???

I had a STi PPP and they are a very good choice and are popular for selling on with the right extras.

The WR1 is a rarer and faster car and from reading some threads about them on here definately worth a try, they are holding onto their value so should be a better choice when it comes to resale time

Make your choice and go for it, either will be seriously quick and will make you smile... a lot

Do you buy all your cars based on their 0-60 times?

If you want something rare have a look at the Type-25. Far better performance than a WR1 and still insurance-friendly

no dont buy all my cars based on 0-60 times just saying that its 0-60 is very impressive as quicker than fq340 and e46 m3. plus its a uk spec not a jap import so power is high compared to usual sti uk. I just wanna buy something with great power especially in take off and the wr1 seems to tick all the right boxes

The WR1 is just an STI PPP isn't it? Engine wise that is... I know it has better wheels, springs and a girly colour as standard.

I toyed with getting one before I bought my Spec D but just couldn't get away with the colour. I think it is a marmite thing.

Traffic light Grand Prix?

0-60 times are for bragging rights only.

In fairness, 0-60mph times give a good guide when buying a car as to how quick and powerful it is in comparison with it's weight. Nowt wrong with it.

I think you are just being awkward and over emphasising what Colly said. If nothing else, facts and figures are collated to make an overall informed decision. I don't see how your comments are helping in this quest.

Different map with a three port boost solenoid.

Sorry but I disagree. A Scoob will always have a good 0-60 time because of its traction advantage.

He wanted an opinion on the car, if you have nothing valid to add to that then do not comment at all and start your own thread!

I always thought 0-60 in 4.25 a trifle optimistic with "only" 316bhp? With an FQ340 it's quite believable.

I seem to recall the WR1 having ambitious 0-60 and in particular 0-100 times. IIRC less than 10 secs to 100.

It should be no quicker than a UK WRX STi with PPP and one that has the DCCD-A.

to the OP and his question, i once toyed with the idea of replacing my P1 with a WR1 or STI, i went for neither in the end but what i did read and was told is the WR1 is a great car as is the STI, but for WR1 money a 05 STI would make for a better car if you decided to mod it (05 due to the wider rear Track, and fited with DCCD) insurance will be the same'ish on the STI.

what it comes down to is if you want to mod the engine, suspension etc, as the money saved from not getting the WR1 can be spent on the STI which would in more cases then none meet with higher power figures which in turn make it faster which is what you seem to be after.

Personaly i would leave the PPP kit out of it, as is again if you want to mod you will end up changing the suspension set up so there is no point in spending the extra on buyinbg a STI with the PPP kit as if you are intendeing on modding you will replace the PPP bits.

please this is my opinion and i am sure others will disagree but with all said they are all great cars it just depends on what you want out of it at the end of the day. the WR1 will hold its money better, it is limited so you know you will not see it everyday, just like the P1.

to throw something else into the subject i know a lot of people rate the SPEC-C, soemthing i know nothing about but i am sure someone will help you out. It is almost a impossible question to answer, but if you want fast i would buy a Classic and drop it off to Scoobyclinic, Suabaru4you, API leave them the 10-12k difference and have them build you a 500+ bhp road car, something like scoobyclincs SC50 package £12k i think it is and that would be a fast as ****!

good luck in whatever you do

The WR1 is a great UK car. An alternative is one of the Jap versions ...

Get a Spec C as the base car, spend a few £k on it & you have a 350bhp+ car. It's pretty raw (base car for the Group N rally cars) in a good way though

You can get hold of one here (I did):
