BMW Looked Mean. Thought It Would Have Beeen Quicker
Coming down the M5 today.
Overtaking in the fast lane, not at silly speeds.
Noticed in the mirror a Dark Blue BMW coming up behind me very quickly.
I did the decent thing & moved over to let him past.
Noticed a Red Badge in the Grille & never seen anything like that before.
He went past fairly rapidly, no M3 Badge on the rear, big meaty tyres, lowered suspension, looked the business.
A couple of miles later, I caught up with him, a bit of congestion in the fast lane.
When it cleared, he booted it and, so did I, "as you do out of curiosity".
All I can say is, we tootled along at a decent rate.
Puffs of smoke out of his rear, suggested he was doing his best.
At a certain rate of knots he too did the decent thing & pulled over & off I went.
We both came off at the same junction, thumbs up jobbiess, from both of us, no problems at all.
Just a couple of questions, anyone know what BMW that was with the Red, thing in the Grille?
Also, I thought it would be a lot more rapid, anyone got any idea of the spec for this??
All good stuff, not a "my cars faster than yours post" just pretty intersted in finding out more.
Regards.

I've looked on the Alpina Web Site & I can't see anything like it.
There was NO Badge whatsoever on the rear (Apart from the BMW Symbol).
I've seen on the Alpina Site That it has Alpina in big letters on the rear.
The Red Alpina Badge in the front Grille.
There were definitely 2 sets of paired pipes in the exhaust.
It was a Y registered Car.
I'm into cars, and I've never seen one like this before?
Hence the question/thread.
Just interested in finding what it was and the spec.

By the way, I've looked at my starting thread I've put M3 on it.
Twas a 5 Series.
I doubt it was an M5, why the Alpina Symbol in the grille???
Nothing on the rear as I said.
There's no way on paper I should have kept up with it if it was an M5.
Bits of smoke were I think gear changes, it was a petrol car otherwise there would have been black smoke.
More confused than ever now.

Question - What were you thinking being in the BMW lane. No wonder he came up quickly behind you I bet he was gobsmacked . Your lucky he didn't drive straight through you or rammed you off the road, count your blessings Alan .
