Default Confused about Road Tax!!!

OK, in true 'rip off Britain' style we have another road tax increase

The thing is, Im hoping to get a fresh import Type R soon and Im wondering if I will get hit by the new rates?

It says all cars 'Registered' after March 2001 will pay more, so if I import a car, will the registered date be the date it comes into the UK or the date it was manufactured in a Japan?

I hope not! Anyone know for sure?

Mine was imported in 2005 to the uk and my last road tax was 99 quid for 6 months but on the v5 i had nothing for co2 emissions so it was based on engine capacity only

Road tax - Parker's

there you go mate, check it out for yourself

'If your car was registered before the 1st March 2001 then car tax is based only on the engine size, with one rate for engine sizes up to and including 1549cc and one for engines over 1549cc.'

just read this little bit and by the looks of things mine wont be going up.
