The car is a 94 WRX RA.Today the check engine light came on with an immediate loss of boost. After about 10 mins the light went out and back came the power!
Wrong forum but i need answers as i dont want to do any engine damage.
Your help would be much appreciated as i cant just take the car to my local dealers, being a wrx.

Probably minor.
Likely cause to engage safety mode (check engine light...limits car to 4000 rpms) is the speedo cable that is connected to the gearbox. Can come loose and gives this warning.
Take a look, the cable goes into a small aluminuim block then into the gearbox through a rubber bung. Check this when the engine and turbo is cool (turbos get slightly warm in case you were not aware), The cable is situated to the left(if looking at engine from front bumper) of the turbo (next to the casing) It enters the bulkhead and then connects to the speedo in the dash..
Give that a poke, see if its loose. If not, whack it down a dealers and get them to take a look. Just incase
