mod'd wrx price guide
i'm looking at buying a mod'd bug eye wrx this weekend and just wanted your thoughts on its asking price.
I sold my 2003 STI for an EVO but as good as it was.... it just wasn't worth the cost in fuel bills.
The car In question has 50k and has been fully serviced with a recient timing belt, tensioners etc changed.
It has been mapped by andy forrest to produce 330bhp.
Mods consist of..
VF34
Larger 550cc injectors
Sti top mount IC
HKS exhaust
uprated fuel pump
Green Panel filter
AP clutch
AP 6 pot brakes with Braided lines
Tein Suspension
18" speedlines
Strutt brace
Morret head light conversion
3 peice front splitter
STI alloy Bonnet
STI rear spolier
There are other mods but they are cosmetic both inside the car and out.
The asking price is £8,500
I contacted the seller as the car i currently have (182 Trophy, i took this in p/x with my evo) its not suitable for me. He is very interested in doing a deal with me on the Trophy.
I considered buying another STI but the extra cash to get one which will be more than likley standard is just not doing it for me.
Thoughts?

What year is the bugeye, how many owners & does it have fsh?
Black is always faster & worth more
If its a late bugeye with low owners & the right history then its not too bad considering the mods. I would try for 8k. The mods in themselves are worth a fair bit especially if it was something you were considering doing....

I know you dont get back what you spend when modding a car but with the brakes, suspension, wheels and exhaust you are probably looking at £4k if bought new, not to mention the labour charges. Seems like a good price to me but that is dependant on history/owners.

The remap, brakes, suspension and wheels are all stuff that i have always fancied changing on a scooby but the wife freeks when i spend large amounts of cash on these things. Hence why i usually buy a car thats been done the way i want it to keep peace.

Yes but you're not going to get a VF34, Sti topmount, set of AP 6 pots, suspension, 18" speedlines, full exhaust, fuel pump, all the rest and a remap
for that £2500.

On the flipside you don't know how well the work was done, how worn the parts are and surely half the fun is in deciding what work you want done rather than buying someone else's project?
Another route might be buy a standard car for 6K and buy used parts from here. That way you can make the car the way you want it and have all the standard parts to put it back in good order when you come to sell.

That's a plus point then. I still think the car is overpriced however. Many owners of modified cars tend to think they can add quite a lot to the value. In reality the modifications are worth next to nothing, except of course to the right person, which might be you.
Personally I think you can do better- also should you go for it I reckon you'd do better selling the Clio and beating him down on price with the lure of cash.
