Default Dealership handing out dodgy service stamps?

It seems that my 60000 my service stamp is a dud...

After taking my 03 Sti for a health check at ProSport, the guys there found a few things wrong... enough for me to question the validity of the 60k service done by Robinsons of Rochdale 3 months ago. I took the car to Robinsons today to question them about it. They deny ever servicing the car but agree that one of their staff have stamped the book and maybee an ex employee stamped it illegally I have questioned the seller of the car and he states that he bought some spark plugs and and oil filter from them and they stamped the 60k service book and were happy for him to do the service himself?

There were certainly some twitchy ***** going at Robinsons

This can't be good... what do you all think?

sounds like book was stamped by a mate of former owner to me so he could flog with full history.
just goes to show you should obtain invoices or phone the dealer who's stamp it is prior to buying the motor just to confirm the history.

afraid to say this stuff goes on all the time but i doubt there is anything you can do about it,as the 60k includes all fluids, filters and plugs i would get the service done myself for peace of mind just in case it has not been done fully.

Heard an interesting rumour on here regarding Robinsons are stopping selling Subaru's https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...-no-stock.html

Not good if your car has not had its 60K service properly done !

I do have the receipts for the parts used in the service... Trading standards said this is BAD and to report it the rozzers

I'm gonna get em! and duff em up... probably after school!

i called into my local dealer for parts when i had the last scoob, while i was there i asked about servicing. they typed my reg into their computer and there was no showing of the car having ever been to them although there were 4 of their stamps in the service book (all slightly different shades so hadn't been done at the same time).
i ended up taking the car to precious metal to have all fluids, plugs, etc changed for piece of mind as i didn't know exactly what had/ hadn't been done.
i guess it is fraud but finding out who's to blame is another matter as they'll always say it was a "former" employee?

So when you bought it you were shown a service history with stamps that you didn't bother checking was actually genuine?

To be fair, unless someone has been scammed themselves, or heard of the scam, it's not going to occur to them that dealer stamped service history could be fake. Before reading this thread I would not have doubted a dealer service history if I was shown a stamped up book that looked genuine. We all live and learn.

This should go to trading standards, I would also copy IM group as well, that is an appalling way for a dealer to behave and MUST be clamped down on...against both the stealer and the seller who deliberately misrepresented the car when he sold it and is therefore guilty as well, and owes you compensation for that!

I would also inform Subaru Customer Service about it too.

This is a trading standards job in my eyes, Robinsons have put their stamp to some work that clearly hasn`t been done by their company. With them stamping the 60k service they are saying legally that this work has been carried out by their company of which it hasn`t.

If this was a Cambelt Service under question... and your belt had just snapped, taking your engine with it then you'd be looking for ££££'s compensation from the Dealership that 'apparently' serviced and replaced everything. Just because its a slightly less important service, doesnt make it any less important to be honest.

Step 1: Phone Trading Standards and report them fully.
Step 2: Phone Subaru Customer Service/IM and report them fully.

You have caught it, its been fixed by a specialist (who will back up your report) so you are lucky... however, someone else might not be so lucky so its best to log a complaint now in my opinion.

Cheers,
Grant

Complaint logged fully with Subaru (who were clearly very interested)
And Trading Standards, who were MORE interested.

I suspect Robinsons may get some **** over this!

Smiler: until now I would have had no reason to question a genuine dealer stamp. it would be like biting every quid coin in my pocket... where do you stop?

dont wanna put a downer on this but if car is bought privately its up to the buyer to make sure car is as described and not wot you'd would expect it to be like as for the service stamp thats another story

trading standards advice on buying from private buyer is "BUYER BEWARE"

and lets face it it looks more like the seller knows someone at the dealers rather than the dealers have stamped it over the counter

thats me 10p's worth

Default To be honest

I know from previous dealings with IM that they will do absolutely nothing at all about this. Unfortunately thats all I can currently say on the matter as I have some issues im dealing with as I speak. Robinsons have been involved although they were because of the previous owner.

I suppose you live and learn, next time i buy a car i will be checking everything. To be fair I believe the seller to be genuine as he's been helpful and isnt avoiding my difficult questions. And I did get a bargain so I will have the problems fixed at Prosport and let Trading Standards screw with Robinsons.

To be honest had they been nice about it and tried to be helpful I'd have let it go but they were an unhelpful, smarmy bunch of Tw**s and the MD needs belting in the gob...

Its wasn't stamped here sir.... so what u gonna do about it?

I wouldn't buy a spark plug from them in the future!

Rant over... thanks fellas

Its common practice in the motor trade, you must lead a sheltered life if it shocks you.
Remember there all out to get you.................!

Cheers... I'll remember that!

All is now well, Prosport fixed everything and at a good price so now... I've left subaru and trading stds to deal with Robinsons.... I am led to beleive I am not the first to suffer.
