Default noisey tappets

my impreza has been stood for just over two months now due to gearbox probs this is sorted now.but i have started the car today for the first time and there is a loud tapping sound which i am sure is tappets.i was wandering if i was to flush the engine and replace oil and filter if this could cure this as the engine did not tap prior tho being stood.any advice?

If it has been stood for a while, it might even be Piston Slap.

could be a sticking valve/tappet, i thought some models had hydralic and some not dependant on year/spec (STI)

would take the car for a gentle run (20 mins/20 miles) to get the oil circulating and hot. May clear up itself.

How old is the oil/when was it last changed, may be worth getting it done anyhow.

Not too sure about using flushing oil in a turbo engine, others will know better.

probably just the oil has drained out of the hydralic tappets from where it has sat for a while gentle run should quiet them down
