Default misleading sellers with sti wannabe's !

have you guys noticed recently just how many unscrupulous sellers on fleabay are trying to flog their wrx imprezas off as sti models !! drives me nuts !! there are endless amounts of people trying it on...it really does my head in ! i fear for the new guy who buys a car paying more to get an sti when in reality he is just getting mugged ! there should be a model officer on there to stop this type of dodgy business....

They shouldn't be buying on ebay unless they know what they're after.

It would p!ss me off no-end too with the mis-ads. It's hard enough with all the special/limited editions.

number 2

not sure y that poped up on the search its a standard uk classic and thats how its described

number 3

Autotrader - SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0 Sports Special 4dr Saloon Special Editions

thats a mcrae, although its not a wrx

number 4

Autotrader - SUBARU IMPREZA WRX Turbo Sti RA Colin McRae - Ltd no 17 of 555

sti ra? thast an import not a series mcrae lol

number 5

Autotrader - SUBARU Impreza Series McRae Turbo 4WD

o no its an import, its not a mcrae

number 6

Autotrader - SUBARU IMPREZA Series McRae Turbo 4WD 4dr Saloon Special Editions

series mcrae type r, 2 door? another import, not a series mcrae

In fairness if your doing the add online with the Autotrader there arent very many models to choose from i.e if you go to list a Type R you cant as theres only UK models listed. Might explain some of these

A sensible reply at last. All it does is improve the search result, ie the more models you include in the title the more chance you have of your ad being flagged. Anyone buying one of these would normally do their homework anyway.

a lot of people dont know what import model car they have, it is a minefield, some of them just go by what is on their v5, but dvla put anything on them, so if they are not in know, they just go on what they are told, there are a lot of owners that havent heard scoobynet, on the other hand some are just chancers

You're right mate. When I uploaded my Type R to Autotrader the system would only allow it to be listed as a "P1 Type R". I had to ring them to have it put right.
Makes sellers who know their cars look like dicks if they don't get them altered.

If you want to screw over the unscrupulous sellers on fleaby, save the cars add to your watched list and if it sells pm the buyer to tell him he's being ripped off!

Apart from the "STI" wannabe's you also get the "Prodrive" wannabe's, Always seem to be lots advertised as "Prodrive Impreza's" or "Full Prodrive pack fitted". From what I can gather the Full Prodrive Pack consists of a sticker, usually on the boot!

Went there just over a year ago, took my friend down as he'd seen something he liked there(he had cash with him to buy). Long story short, we left after 2 hours extremely annoyed with attitude and customer service. and although my friend was desperate to buy something with a turbo, I did my best to guide him away...quality of cars was terrible. anyway, plenty of people came and looked like they were going to buy cars in the time I was there(2 hours) and 1 or 2 actually left with one. so they obviously dont need to worry about customer service. But who buys from these people??? If there's anyone out there with cars bought from keighley that havnt blown up leave a comment as i'm interested to know what others think.
