Default Running with no dumpvalve

could anyone on here give me some info on how a car will behave if running with no recirc/dump valve???

Am thinking of removing it but would like to know if the car will behave differently ie tickover/smoothness/etc.

P.s car in question is a version 5 sti ra with autronics ecu/Turbo Dynamics GT30/frontmount/etc....

Thanks

that turbo should be fine without it..

when you lift off it will stall the turbo blades and the air will pass back through the turbo.. makes a nice noise.. does stress the turbo but yours should be fine.

do it!

excellent is it just a case of whipping the old dv off and a blanking plate on to the intercooler? what happens to the little hose?

blank em all off. Prepare to shorten the life span of your turbo though. And it will likely overfuel as well. should spit some flames out the rear. ultimately though there is a rearson that its on there. car will also feel slightly more jirky.

Is there any other sound make due to different pressure (i dont mean the sound dompvalves make) just any other sound. For instance a different sound of spool or a sound when you let off (yet again not the pssttt lol)

Im running with no DV at the moment on a TD04, replaced my Intercooler with one from a 97/98 car and some new pipwork (as my original pipework broke)...

Don't like it, car is deffinatly more jerky and dips at idle.. Getting the pipework to return it too standard... Going to wait till I have a few more bob before i do anything more performance wise to my motor!

Yes have ditched the valve completely and am now fully mapped.....Get a loud flutter at low revs on gearchange now and at high revs (ie over about 4500/5000 and above)you get a loud screech, quite high pitched...

Add this to the 3" straight through system and the Antilag function on the Autronics .....

A friend of mine who used to own a Tuscan and now has an M3 CSL was grinning like a schoolboy when i took him for a blast in it at the weekend.LOL...

Thanks to Paul and team(Zen Performance)...

Actually the airflow stall off the blades, the blades don't stall, and air doesn't pass back through the turbo, its just above the surge line on teh compressor map.

Not good for the trubo, but the MHI's seem to survive it OK.

Seems to be a SN myth that all VFs can't take it. I'll be running my VF35 without a DV soon on the advice of a few well known peeps on here (I wn't name drop for once )

Fingers crossed I won't be eating my words...or should that be 'it won't be eating my compressor blades?'

blanking them off will shorten the life of the standard turbos.

I've blanked my wagon TD04 off and love the chatter u get from the blades stalling, i know it'll send her to an earlier grave but all the more reason to upgrade sooner!. Old bob is running 1.5 bar through a TD05 fully blanked and apparently no problems at all. So far so good.
