you can get an rac one done online for £4.99. not sure if it indemnified, but it tells you all you need to know.

Doing the HPI properly also gives you a cert of the check carried out and there is also a guarantee that the motor you're going to buy is not a duff. For a matter of a few pounds don't go cheap at this stage!
