I would imagine they are a load of rubbish on cars i doubt you'd even go fast enough to make them work vortex generators are fitted to aircraft wings to improve lift they work by creating little vortexes, and by doing this prevent the air seperating from the wing early and improve lift characteristics particulaliy at low speeds, and can help improve the stall angle. I work in the RAF on Harriers and have these fitted to the wings, i really don't see what benifits you'd have to put them on a car, pure gimmick in my opinion.
The dark side obviously doesn't think so; have a good read through the linked PDF from the technical section of their website and try and get your head around the maths!!
dunno - maybe the shape of an average Ferrari doesn't have enough of a drop in its Cd to make it worth doing. Prehaps because a saloon is the most stupid shape for a high performance car possible, every little helps?
I would say though, that the ones mitsubishi design, test and fit are perhaps more use than some that someones knocked up on a MDF mold in a vacum forming machine!
A few cars already have vortex bumps, normaly on the back of the roof, little bumps,I think emptying the ashtray to lose weight would have the same effect on speed TBH but others think different or the use hem as a gimick.
