04 sti ppp, best turbo UPGRADE?
as above what would be the best upgrade for this car, i would want a direct replacement without having to moddify the fitting. i would have about £550 to buy it. or maybe a tad more if i sell the existing vf35.

You need a TD05-20G from Andy Forrest for ~£850 + vat. It's a straight swap, the oil & water pipes are an exact match. You should be able to sell the old VF35 for ~£300.
Assuming you have a 3" decat exhaust from the turbo back and an ECUTEK remap then you should be looking at ~380bhp.

Some of them are only oil cooled and designed for lower temperature Diesel engine applications, if you do a search on jap warehouse turbos and see what comes up

A big vote for the TD05/18g.
It's a great turbo. Car spools not to dissimilar from standard and pulls. If you were closer i could've taken you spin and use the bum dyno to decide for yourself.
Speak with AndyF about one of them.
I spoke to quite a few people when i decided on the turbo, quite a few wished they hadn't got the 20g due to lack of driveability and lag, or then they swapped to the 18g.
MD321h is also an option, but i can thoroughly recommend AF18g
Should give circa 360-370bhp without additives.

There was also a thead where the guys at scoobyclinic could only get 330 bhp from one of their 20G's, having had one here I can tell you that a genuine MHI 18G or 20G compressor wheel is larger/taller than the JAW version. I know this as I was quite impressed by the casings and tried to fit one to a genuine 20G and it wouldn't fit over the compressor wheel without machining out to size !
