Default Advice for a Newbie

Hi Guys,

I am new around here. I used to own an Evo (1 & 4) but I have decided to come over to the dark side and get a Scooby…
I just wanted a bit of advice really. I wanted an STi because the performance will be closer to an EVO. But occasionally I need to do motorway journeys and am wondering if they are really low geared to give good acceleration. Also, I have seen an RA that looked quite tasty. Because these are a little lighter are they a bit crap on real roads..?

These are the two I have my eye on. Don’t really want to spend more than 5k otherwise her indoors will do one :-(

SUBARU IMPREZA WRX TURBO STi 1995 FRESH IMPORT *AWESOME on eBay, also, Subaru, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 09-Dec-07 22:18:38 GMT)

GENUINE SUBARU IMPREZA TURBO TYPE RA * MAY P/EX on eBay, also, Subaru, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 12-Dec-07 11:39:04 GMT)

Thanks in advance for any advice…

An Sti RA has a very short final drive and therefore run out of revs at around 130mph. An normal 4 door Sti has a 22mph/1000rpm final drive and therefore has a theoretical top speed of around 175mph.
As an everyday car, my sti is pretty good, if not a bit noisey on the motorway. An ra would do my head in!

Been looking at 2 STI RAs V Ltd Version 5 and I thought they had a longer 5th.

Is this the case?

Got to agree.... wouldnt buy one off Ebay unless you know what you are looking at and inspect it first....

PM The gaffer https://www.scoobynet.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=28215 Im sure JB said there was an RA at the clinic.... Failing that, if you do find one you like then ask someone to have a look at it with you if you arnt confident ... Get yourself to a meet near you and meet some people, they are always happy to talk about their cars or give advice

Most numptys on ebay don't know what they are selling.... just trying to screw someone "uninformed" of their load of cash.
STI sticker on the back and bingo more money
Type RA cherching more money...
