No connection whatsoever, happily. 214's etc all used Honda switches, so there's a similarity in that the controls were made by Jap manufacturers, but different Jap manufacturers. That's it.

I've got access to an old 214, for my sins... switches are a bit similar, but certainly not the same as my MY99. Think the earlier Imprezas had slightly different switchgear though?

I hoping to pick up my 56 Reg. Spec. D this weekend and during testdrives had also noticed that the fuel and boot release is exactly the same as on my Dad's old Honda Accord Saloon he used to have - this was an H reg which means they date from about 1990!

The latest Justy is a rebadged Ignis after all......

There are a lot of connections between Jap manufacturers due to the way they use the supplier base, the 97-> impreza electric window switches have Nissan written on them, and Jatco and Hitachi both supplied transmission parts to both (hence why an MX5, Datsun 510 and Nissan 200SX etc all have the same/very similar R160 or R180 diffs depending on model as the Subaru's)

I think that a stylist by the name of Peter(?) Stevens went from somewhere in the Scooby/IM set-up (?Prodrive?) to Rover about 3 years ago, rapidly followed by the issue of some WR(ish)-blue high spoiler sports (!) Rovers..... Suspect it may be something to do with this.
