How much power should I get ?
I'm putting my car on the dyno tomorrow at Powerstation, finally going to see what it can do after all the hard work and lots of money !!
Spec: STI RA Engine,Andy Forrest TD05 20g turbo running 1.55 bar,Carl Davey Inlet manifold Insulators and head tank insulators,Custom made parallel fuel rail conversion,Z32 Maf,K&N Induction kit,Apexi Power FC,Commander and boost controller,Hayward & Scott full exhaust system,GT SPEC GEN II Ceramic coated headers and up-pipe,550cc injectors,Hybrid FMIC,SX Fuel pressure regulator running approx 4 bar,255 fuel pump.
Mapped by Jolly Green Monster.
I was hoping for 400bhp or very close. The only problem I know of is the boost is dropping off above 6000rpm from 1.5 to around 1.3 bar.
Any idea what the car should produce ?

hope you get around 400bhp,that is some spec
is that powerstation at [tewkesbury]?
would liked to have joined you just to see what mine is pushing now after jgm mapped,as of work commitments i can't so i will have to wait until after xmas,by then i will have fitted my bigger turbo then get jgm to do is mapping.
then hopefully put it on the rollers.

Jolly green monster predicted high 300's bhp but the boost drop-off could make it lower than it should be.

i think around 385bhp got pretty much the same spec as yours, bar the turbo, still running the 16g also mapped by simon, not sure if to uprate the turbo any more than a 18g as i'm running wrx cams and so i have been told a 20g really comes into its own at high revs and the wrx cams top out at around 6550rpm

Obv. depends on weights you use.
Classic - between 1235 and 1300.
Newage - between 1350 and 1495.
Using heaviest classic and lightest newage, a 360 classic is equivalent to a 380 newage.
Using lightest classic and heaviest newage, a 360 classic is equivalent to a 436 newage.
Christ - I should have something better to do @ 00:17 on a Sat morning.....

Heres an EU classic WRX with 360hp
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 360
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1235
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 296.18
0 - 60 (Secs) : 3.62
0 - 100 (Secs) : 9.35
60 - 100 (Secs) : 5.74
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.26
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 114.47
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 11.86
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 118.38
Heres the same calculator for a EU Newage STi with 360hp
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 360
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1470
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 248.83
0 - 60 (Secs) : 4.14
0 - 100 (Secs) : 10.50
60 - 100 (Secs) : 6.36
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.78
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 110.32
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.38
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 113.95
48hp per ton down on the classic.
The same again but an EU Newage with 429hp
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 429
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1470
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 296.52
0 - 60 (Secs) : 3.61
0 - 100 (Secs) : 8.88
60 - 100 (Secs) : 5.27
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.18
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 117.14
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 11.78
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 121.09
A classic weighing 1235kg and 360hp will be as quick as a newage sti weighing 1470kg with 423hp.
Thats 63hp.
I was once told as an easy guide rule to remember, lose 5kg gain 1hp, 200kg = 40hp.
Get the fat guy out the car, there 25hp
Weights were taken from subaru manuals so should be pretty accurate.

I'm surprised it is so much, but thanks for the info chaps.
So the classic STI must have had a low bhp as standard as another thread showed lap times for the STis for the past few years. A 276bhp STI was quicker than anything ekse including the classic, which by the above calculations make the classic STI as standard around 200bhp... is that right or have other elements besides the power increased the lap times of the newer cars?

Just got back from Powerstation and i'm not happy
Lots of problems, misfiring, injectors showing max'd out even at only 1.3 bar !
When JGM mapped the car on Wednesday evening at 1.55 bar the injector duty max was 85%
Powerstation couldn't run it at 1.55 bar so they tried 1.3 bar and just managed to get a run with a slight misfire, produced 335bhp and 280lb/ft
Doesn't misfire on the road though

It's very strange that the injectors were hitting 100%+ duty cycle as such a low rpm.
The missing on low boost was prob because the rollers were causing more load on the car than you would get on the road.
But if you went to boot it up cleeve hill or leckhampton hill or something, then i'd think it will miss then.
Try it and if it does, regap the plugs and try again.
If it's still the same, I guess new coilpacks are the next step.
Still need to findout why 100% duty on the injectors on high boost though

I can feel a road versus dyno mapped car debate starting again.... be nice to see some numbers i guess, but if its happy on the road where it spends its life, and the id is the same as when it was mapped i wouldnt worry at all... jgm knows his stuff and from experience running on the rollers does not always produce the expected numbers due to load varience, inadequate cooling etc etc

I was gutted tbh, as it looked and sounded like it was gonna go for good power on high boost.

gutted for you m8, i was hoping you would have got good figures as ive just fitted practically the exact same mods as you (550`s as well) im waiting to get mapped though so have no idea as to what the car feels like to drive yet, i always thought the 550`s were good for 450(ish) BHP or there abouts?

nothing really, just seams strange with all the hick ups that your having, have heard lots of prase on here about them, i have never been to them my self.
the car trying to jump out of the rollers, must take a fair bit of power to do that, as dont think i had it with mine

Don't think Powerstation has anything to do with my problems.
Although it annoyed me that it was misfiring on the dyno but doesn't on the road !
