Default My Tool Chest

Hi folks,
I am begining to build up my tool chest and i was wondering if i could get some help on what make to go with,am on the wall at the moment. I of course want snap-on but i can not afford to bulid a whole set up of snap on. I was thinking of goin with Tengtools, would that be a good choice or is there anything just as good or better than tengtools.

Thanks

snapon tools are now made in china! they just keep the made in usa badge on as a branding.. so they are just overpriced... draper is what my spanners are... get the proffessional ones and you'll be happy.. pretty cheap too

I have just bought Halfords Professional 150 piece Socket / Rachet Spanner set. They seem well rated and come with a lifetime guarantee.

The set is on special offer at the moment - £100 (reduced from £150). I also got a free £10 voucher to spend at a later date.

Cheers,

Ian.

Perhaps they are now? Accepted wisdom was that they were made by Teng.

Halford Pro range used to be made by SP, not sure if that's still the case. I rate them very good, especially if you look out for the deals they do..

The half moon and 'elbow' jointed ratchet spanner sets are very handy..

Bit of a highjack, but does anyone know where you can buy the sockets that grip on the flats of nuts instead of the usual hex angles IYSWIM..? They look like a but like a rounded star socket. I bought a small selection that are SP when Halfords were selling them off a few years ago, just wouldn't mind getting a few that I haven't got. I really like them as they don't show any marks on the nut, even if it's something that's regularly used..!

i would use signet as they are made in the same snap on factory and have a life time warenty, you could also try blue-point which is cheaper snap on, my aprentce bought a 3/8 socket set with all deep/shallow sockets ratcket etc for £100 off the snap-on van. theres loads on ebay

Default Halfords Pro

I buy the halfords pro stuff. Good stuff at a sensible price. The flexi ratchet spanners are the dogs.
The lifetime guarentee is only valid if you keep the receipts for everything.

There was a whole lot of "seconds" stuff released onto the market that should have been melted down, most of which appeared on ebay. There was one particular item, that halfords replaced more under warrenty than they had ever sold.

So keep all the receipts in a box somewhere. They will excahnge anything no questions if you can produce the receipt.
