service history
hi,just wondering what you all thought of this,m.my 03 sti is due a major service (its the cambelt one) but instead of taking it do a dodgy subaru dealer i was going to get the cambelt done at scooby clinic and know it will be done properly.but this means i will only have a receipt instead of a dealer stamp.what im getting at is would it bother you if you was looking to buy a scooby that didnt have full history but had all necessary services covered by a quality outfit such as scooby clinnic.

Scoobyclinic can still stamp your book. If the invoice has all the work on it as required for the correct service interval, who could complain? I know I wouldn't.

in my experience of having to put right the work done by some of the so called specialists including some that get so highly rated on here i wouldn't let them put a wheel on my wheel barrow!

Come on, you can't make a statement like that without backing it up with a few horror stories. They always make for an interesting read.

When I was changing the cambelt and re-setting the valve clearances on my NSX, a enthusiatic motoring chappy who was being nosey, implied that only a Honda dealership should do such work on such a car.
To which my reply; Ok, what better guarantee do I have that the monkey who spends 90% of his working month working on Civics and CRVs will do the job any better?
Well they have the training? He retorts.
Still, that training didn't stop them missing the coolant and gearbox oil change, nor the last valve clearance inspection, the ABS high pressure hose needed replacement, failed to note the spark plugs were due for changing, not to forget the cambelt is overdue.....which is why I'm having to do all of the said tasks myself!
(still, it suited me, I only had to pay them for an oil and filter change and still get to have a FHSH service book )
