My MX5 does this, it is the slave plunger as it pushes against the clutch arm - not sure if this is the case with you, just throwing in an option.

Look at the slave plunger - the contact faces could be dry - blob of copperease will sort it ................. few minutes work and 10p worth of grease

The MX5 it is easy to get to under the engine ..... but, on the Scooby I think its under the Intercooler - which is more of a pain I guess?

Just seen you have a front mount - in that case it's even easier than on the MX5!!

Follow the pipe from the Clutch Master Cylinder to the Slave Cylinder - this will operate on the clutch lever ...... it's that interfcae that may be dry.
