New STi- WRX
#1
Well I've taken the bait and just ordered a new WRX STi.
Upgrading from a MY99.
Was looking at an EVO but found Mitsubishis dealers to be no where near as friendly as walldonway.

No,
I didn't get to drive the Evo, but then again I look at after service and my inital views from Mitsubish weren't very pleasing.
Exspecially the ' Do you know how much they cost sir'.
At least with Subaru nothing seems to be to much hassle for them.

In the same way I could've been put off an Impreza by the idiot that took me out on my second test drive. He quite like to drive at stupid speeds in residential areas. Not at all impressed. The same garage had killed someone on a test drive a few years previously I later heard. The same establishment later serviced my car which went in with no faults and came out with two things damaged and dangerous tyre pressures as well as charge for filling a full screenwash and "fitting" carpet mats and headlight protectors along with labour rates higher than their competitors and a bad attitude to go with it, not to mention bad advice. Find another dealer, although granted they may be spread a long way apart.
If I chose cars on the basis of how good the dealers were I don't think I would ever have bought a single car Subaru included.

Having serious second thoughts on the type UK since my dealer this morning thought he was being generous by offering me £13k for my RB5 (£1.5k less than he offered me 2months ago trading in against a year old P1)

Mine is the non-prodrive, There are plenty of these being advertised in autotrader starting at £16,900
Am I being naive? I was a little shocked by the first offer, my face must have been a sight to behold when he offered me £1.5 k less.

So (assuming you buy a UK) it won't have a substantially increased power to weight ratio over your MY99, but I am sure you had other reasons. Did you drive the Evo? Have you seen the Evo 7 prices thread. Apparently you can run an Evo at 21-22PSI out the box. That would sway me A Scooby would doubtless blow up or fuel cut if you did that. The intercooler is in the wrong place too.

Mccltd your experiences seem to mirror my own, Mitsu dealer bearly wanted to know, and given the announcement on price and the EVO review of the Type UK, It seems my decision has been made for me, If I can muster up the cash/ball$ to suffer another 4 years in debt and danger.
