Default another newbie!

Hi! well, ive been forced to stop tinkerin with cars by 'ere indoors so thought id buy one thats already been tinkered with but aint no fiesta either a mate at work has an Impreza, i havent been out in it but it looks (and sounds) lovely! my only concern tho is the running costs. theres plenty of older ones out there for around 3k which would be about my limit so not expecting to have a newer model but 20mpg is 20mpg no matter how old your car is
ive been reading in here on an off for a while now, seems a tidy site but dont get much chance to sit behind a computer for decent periods to get stuck in to much depth

any advice welcome!

The good news with Imprezas is they are cheap to buy now 3.5-4k will get a good example, the bad news is they are bloody expensive to run.

if you are driving every day i'd say budget 100-150 quid a month for running costs, and thats not including petrol etc. just maintanance, servicing etc.

The best advice is to join a club in your area and find out who they use, normally they will know of a good independant who can keep costs low.

Expensive but every time you floor it - its worth it.

yea ive been looking at the stationwagons, apart from plenty of pushchair space they seem to be a little cheaper too. i wouldnt know if there are any other differences apart from the obvious what you can see!
im a 10 minute drive from a subaru dealer so might just pop in to have a look around! for what its worth, i only use my car for work so its not like i be doing loads of miles in it! not a weekend car as such but it wont be a daily driver (intentionally!)

Don't want to start an argument but I realy don't find scooby's expensive at all.. My sister goes on about the running costs but I think it depends if your use to running a smaller car before owning a scooby.. but look at the pleasure compare with most other choice cars ! You do have a lot of car for the £1.06 a litre of V power
