Default MAF FAILURE?

Is it possible for MY099 scoob to idle as normal and still be suffering from serious MAf problems, i.e problems accelerating/ unable to rev past about 3000rpm?

and does anyone know what the rev limit is for LIMP mode, as i suspest iam getting that quite a lot, but have heard it restricts to about 4.5rpm as opposed to 2-3k rpm?

Regards

Unable to rev past 3000/3500 could also be you lambda/oxygen sensor being fooked. Happened to me on a track day..

hmm, mine accelarates normal up to that point, it doesnt stop accelarating after that, just goes all lumpy and genraly feels as though its going to blow up, quite worrying really, managed to limp to and from work, the funny thing was that when the car is first started up it runs fine all the way up to red line, just after about a minute or so it happens

I've got a similar problem, it drives fine until under full load (about 1.5bar) then goes all lumpy. This has been the case ever since I took on a track day. I took to the local subaru specialist and they changed the MAF (£300 ), it was better for a while then it started playing up again. I've been told that if the MAF fails then sometimes one of the Lamba's can go wrong too.

Yeah i think MAF's from years 99-00 are quite fragile. Ive went through 3 the past year.

£85 per MAF.

from all the the threads ive read and replys ive had today, im prety much convinced its the maf and or lamba sensor, obviously a sensor of some kind as when the car is first started it up runs perfectly, after a few mins it starts to hapens, which makes me think lambda sensor, although on WOT it still does it and im led to belive it doesnt use lamba for that?

booking into a garage over the next few days hopefuly they can find and rectify the fault

Lambda works at cruise, MAF on boost.

Your problems sounds exactly like my MAF failures in the past. £75 quid or so for a new one and fit yourself in 5 mins with a security bit. Lambda failure is often spotted by really bad fuel economy.
