Just finished this yesterday wot do we think ?
Also changed the front door speakers, but changing the head unit made a vast improvement over the original subaru stereo, I have a 54 reg wrx .

Get your flame suit on!
Don't take this the wrong way, but I think it looks tacky and thrown together with whatever lump of scrap metal you could find to blank off the hole under the head unit.
You haven't use chequer plate on your doors too have you??
You'd be better off spending a little money and buying a proper facia/blanking/single DIN conversion adaptor. I'm sure it would look much better.
Just a thought.........maybe the whole interior of your car is stripped out and has chequer plate all over it.....in which case, forget everything I've just said........it will be in keeping with the rest of the interior!!
Me?? ........... I'm going for a Kenwood double DIN touch screen jobbie!!

No offence taken !! dont hold back will you !!
The dvd unit is actually bigger than a din size , so the pocket would not fit.
And no I dont have checkerplate all over my car !

I chucked a double din unit in mine for a snug fit.
Agree with the others, the plating looks a bit naff.
As for the sound quality, I think anything other than OEM sounds better lol. What speakers have you put in?

I put in some 135w (peak) 45w(rms) jbl they were a component set, co there were tweeters to fit as well, went in fine after a few wiring changes, used corsa spacers from motorworld.

IMO I'd get that plate off straight away mate and buy one of the black blanking plates that you can get for a single din conversion or one of the single din pockets that you can get to put CDs or whatever in.

Hmmmm i agree it does look a bit kak - but each to their own i suppose, you can actullay get blanking plates on ebay with laser cut out i.e. STi ... etc, get one of these and stick a blue L.E.D behind & it'll look soooo much better IMHO.

Sorry m8, agree with the above - its just that checkerplate looks so out of place on the dash.
Be worth speaking to local ICE installers to see if there is a way of modifying the single DIN pocket to fit, or recessing it to allow for the slight oversize on the head unit.
If not use a straightforward plastic blanking plate and cut that to size.
