Default flat battery

hi guys had my bug eye sti for 4 months now and in that time had a flat battery twice

once when i went away and left it standing for a week and came back and it was flat
and secondly it was just 10 mins ago...not used it since sunday afternoon
and its now parked up as i am working nights this week
just thought i would pop to town but no shes flat as a pancake

ok it was cold lastnight and this morning when i came home at 5am but it was not frozen

bin told the alarm systems can drain the battery on them

your thoughts if you please

Do a search, many threads on here about flat batts with Tracker units and having smart alternators. I use a battery charger/conditioner on my car to stop it going flat whilst on hols or not driven for a few days.

Funnily enough, mine almost went flat the other week. Left it standing for 2 days. It just to say caught, but struggled.

I'm sure it's the tracker, but can't remember what the fix is. Anyone know?

All i can remember is leaving the fan on #1, not off, to charge the battery.

But in the cases when you're away for a week, even that doesn't help, as i found out the other week.

As these Subaru batteries are no good, what's the best one to get??

My battery doesn't last more than a week if unused. I even tried fitting an uprated battery, but it didn't help. I think my aftermarket alarm drains it as even driving with the sidelights and fan on doesn't keep it topped up.

I've ended up buying (as advised on here) a CTEK battery charger/conditioner which I connect up whenever I'm not going to use the car for a few days.

I bought one of these jobbies:

AccuMate PRO 12V (7A) - 24V (3.5A) AccuMate PRO 12V-24V is a versatile automatic compact battery charger for lead-acid starter and deep cycle batteries of minimum capacity 17Ah (12V) or 9Ah (24V). Workshop > Battery Chargers

You don't need one quite so sooper dooper but it wasn't much more. They won't damage your battery if left connected for any length of time.

Andy.

i thought this was a known fault with the Trackstars but could be rectified by changing the wiring loop the tracker was powered from? Or something like that?

Only had my scoob a couple of weeks but it was flat when i went to test drive it. they put a brand new battery in when i picked her up so i'm not sure how long it will last when i'm not using her....
