Thumbs down

Same happend to me 6months agoWoman driver flies over humbacked bridge and smashes the mirror and flew off!!Turned the car round and shot after her. After a obscene speed i catch her up and with headlamps and piaas blazing make her pull over.
Her car was ok (left hand drive 106!!)and luckily the mirror itself was in one piece apart from needing a new glass.
got her number and made her cough up for a new one!!

Its the same BAŁ"!rds that open their car doors onto your car when its parked!
No respect for other peoples cars.

I once cracked someone's side mirror on a narrow street after some muppet came too fast the other way and I had to swerve to avoid them. Stopped, asked around for the owner, gave them my contact details and offered to pay - but they never got in touch with me!

Unhappy

The car I wrote off after passing my test was caused by some idiot driving round a corner virtually on my side of the road with full beam on.......I swerved to get out of the way and was blinded at the same time, nearly made it round the corner but with black ice on the road the car skidded, I caught it - being inexperieced though, I over-compensated, headed towards the hedge where the car hit the hedge with the front and then swung round and hit it with the rear, and rolled three times until coming to a rest upside down.

Both myself and my brother were hospitalised and the person driving the other car did not stop.

The registration plate is still embedded in a thick part of the hedge.

I would and have stopped.

There is something inside me that just would let me carry on.

Last year when snow actually fell in Herts I was driving in our estate going hom, turned into my road and the car just decided to slide accross the road. Not much I could do but slide, gracefully and slowly into another car.

Bumper to bumper hit that pushed their car alond the road (more like slid). Got out went around the houses to find out who's car it was. Looked with tourches for damage with the owner, the only thing we could find was I had made a clean patch on the bumper.

He wondered back into his house chuntering about me dragging him out in the cold!

Coming home over hill road one night, approach a stationary 4x4 with full beams on. Flashed him thinking he might be turning in but no move and still full beam. Flashed again and nothing so planted the foot a tad (XR2i - not too fast) and just as I pass I hear this almighty thud. His drivers door was open, he had a trailer on the back, and a motorbike which had fallen off. Three big guys were in the process of picking up the bits.

Planted foot now on the brake pedal.

I was fuming, so were they! I ranted about him leaving full beams on and with the drivers door open etc etc etc. Anyway I got Ł10 out of one of them for a new mirror glass.

I wonder when he noticed the scrape on his door, which I had managed to close in the process?

Mike

ps. Since I'm no bigger than I was then, if any of the nice gents from above story are now Scoobynetters, I was only young, and a bit daft. Could pay Ł10 back in instalments if you like.

I would. However I guess if you drove off then reported it later you would get away with it.

You have 24 hours IIRC.

If I had seen the reg of the car being an idiot I would have reported it.

Cool

From memory he / she (the other driver) gets 24hrs to report it theirself, afterwhich if any1 else reports him / her they are in the **** for failing to stop or report it when damage was done to property. Sure thats the way it works.

Gettin back 2 the Q though honest Joe here would have stopped.
Notthing gets further up my nose than folk that damage u r mota and bugger off thinking they`ll get away with it 1 time i had a mirror knocked off by driver going in other direction, I U`d the mota and caught up with them a few miles up the road 1nce i`d checked my mota. As u can imagine quite an animated discussion followed

I would and have (not too recently) stopped too

its not worth getting caught if someone else notices it and reports you.
the bloke i reversed into a couple of months back noticed me do it from his living room, when i went to tell him/give insurance details he had already written my registration number down.
if i'd of buggered off i would have been well in the ****!!

chris
