The P2 was an awsome car and was only made as a prototype by Prodrive to show what they could do...
When i went to the Prodrive Open Day and was talking to one of the guys down there,he said it would never be put into production ..
What a shame...

I agree that its a great idea in theory but would a 2 seater car do justice to Colin McRae as you don`t associate a 2 seater shell with rallying especially in the days that Colin was associated with the sport, to me its got to be something like a modern version of the 22b or a car that you distinctly associate with a rally pedigree. A 2 seater just doesn`t do it for me personally as i don`t think its a close enough type car to rallying.

How would Subaru make the classic again? Surely the production lines, or what ever car manufacturers do these days, are long gone or set up for the new car by now. Don't expect a hand made car.
They will do a tribute using the new shell, to promote and sell it. They are a business after all.

P2 was never going to go into production, it was a showcase for prodrive.
The McRae era was based on the classic shape (although it looks like he MAY have returned).
A fitting tribute would be a small run of classics based on his WRC winning 1995 car, like the Series McRae but modernised.
I think I will **** gold before that happens

I'd be more than happy for Subaru to produce 555 number S204's, up the power to 350bhp, and rename it Series McRae.
I'd buy one.
What probably will happen though, is that because many people are put off by the look of the new Impreza, Subaru will try to shift the new STI by calling a limited number Series McRae. At least they'll sell a few new Impreza's then.
