its about 280bhp and 4.3 seconds 0-60, but i doubt you will get anywhere near those times from a standard STI

Are classics faster than hawkeye STi's? I know they are lighter, but they are less powerful as standard.
I'm running 360bhp/390LbFt in a hawkeye which theoretically should get me around the 4.5secs 0-60mph correct?

Saw a programme a while back showing how the performance magazines measure 0-60 times, it usually takes them several attempts (not to mention several G/box's, clutch's and diffs) before they get anywhere near the manufacturers claims.

Interesting, so on average a hawkeye needs 20bhp over the classic to match it. I would have thought the hawkeye would have been quicker lower gears with all that torque rather than at the top end.

So a classic running 320bhp will theoretically do 0-60mph in less than 4.5secs? I've always assumed the classic is quicker due to the weight thing, but how come the claimed 0-60mph times don't add up?

Gtech meter is 'fairly' accurate IF used properly. Flat surface, setup correctly and run in both directions taking average not best. I use my for personal reference only.
My timed 3.73s was with 340bhp on the way to a 12.3s 1/4mile run. I know that it can go a fair bit quicker than that though

I read on the Subaru FAQ page that the Type R will get to 60 in 4.3 and the type-ra will get there in 4.1
How acurate that is i dont know but the type r weighs 1240 kgs and the type ra weighs a mear 1200 kgs
They both also have a very very low geared and close ratio gearbox to help aid this fast 0-60 sprint!

on another note is it just coincidence that 2 of the fastest subarus in the country are both typeR's (andy f and olly clark) i know they are modified beyond belief but surely if the ra was a lighter base car they would use them to start with
