ROVER MG V8
I had a rover mg v8 behind me lastnight on the way home from work and we ended up at a set of lights on a duel carriage way side by side when the lights changed we was off BUT I really had to work hard through the gears to pull away from it
It had what looked to be a mustang badge on the lower front grill and seemed to whine from under the bonnet when it was at the side of me when we accelerated off and a lovely sounding exhaust note
What the hell was it any one any ideas?

Was basically an MG ZT that Rover shoe-horned an American Ford 4.6 V8 (as used in the Mustang ) into and reworked the chassis/transmission for RWD. Pumped out 260bhp and 300+lbft.
Speed limited to 155mph iirc.
Think Jezza had one round the track on Top Gear a while back and thought it was a larf - quite quick for what it was.
Think there was also a bit of chat about making a supercharged version with power a bit south of 400bhp but I believe they only ever got a couple of development prototypes built before Rover went t!ts up. Think these were sold or auctioned off to the MGOC by receivers but don't know for sure.
I imagine if it was one of those it would have 'ripped you a new one' as the Yanks say.....
Cheers,
Stewart.
