Default Remember when i was trying to sell my car? Well i managed in the end...

Well, i think (know) that i'm old before my time!

You may remember me trying to sell my scoob back in May as i bought a bike. I had murder, with ebay auctions, autotrader on paper and on the web, forums, pistonheads etc. I had £200 go on advertising and nothing! Well, kinda. I had 10+ offers of Rovers, MG's, Escorts, Kawasaki's etc, but nobody coughed up the dosh!

Then along comes my Ex's mum asking for a look at it! And vóila!sl fo the sum of £6500, which is what i was asking for almost 5 months ago!!!
So,
I gave the scooby away last night. Ragged the **** out of it on the way to her house to hand it over lol. Had my last bit of fun, and took the keys off my keyring. It was a sad moment filling in the log book. But it had to be done.

So i looked for Focus's. Diesel was the plan. It didn't go to plan. I ended up with a far larger, far more boring, far more midde aged car. But equally economical really! Silver Mondeo estate haha. The bike is for fun and this is clearly for function!! I can get all the fishing gear in the back for 2 of us, probably the bikes aswell!!! 2.0TDDI, so it's still cheap as chips. I'm actually really pleased lol.

Plus i made a cash saving of £2390 over the car i sold. So subway footlongs are on me!

12 months parts and labour guarentee, MOT tomorrow, full service including odour filter and belts (it's a Y reg), plus i'm V good at he haggle, even if i do say so myself, so i got 490 quid off and picked it up for £4150, which is £850 less than i went out to spend, and this is from a ford dealers, so it's a safe buy...

I'm very boringly happy! thumbsupanim.gifthumbsupanim.gifthumbsupanim.gif

So what year was your scoob?

Mondeo is the better choice for diesel unless its a brand new focus...the old Focus diesel still had the old clatter banger Endura unit (albeit updated) from the early 80's

(Ok, the current Focus 1.8 diesel still has it, but at least the lastest version has a decent turbo, so its not as peaky and doesn't stall everytime it drops below 1300rpm ).

It was a 2003 52 plate blue black Mica wagon sport.

It was a stunning example though, with WRX bonnet and SS exhaust back to cat. No WRX badges. I'm not that bad. I know it's out of order to even throw a bonnet on a sport, but i bought a scoob for the looks, and handling, not the speed so much. 36k, FSSH, old MOT's, cat 1 alarm etc, perfect. old exhaust and bonnet. Excellent buy. I dunno why it took so long t sell!

I loved it to the end, and miss it already, but i know it's the right thing to do. I bust my knee bad riding bmx June 2006, and got this while i was off the bike. I'm allowed to start riding tomorrow, so that'll mean 20k+ per year, with a full car of bikes and people, so it was never the right car.
