Do I need to get my seals re injected ( or something )?
#1
My OO UK Turbo is just about to go in for it's first 12 month service.
Dealer keeps banging on about re-injecting something or other, to ensure the anti-corrosion warranty remains valid.
What is this and do I need to do it?
Thanks
Ed

Edward - its the 1st year bodywork service he's talking about.
Basically they will check underbody sealant etc and reapply as necessary.
Think it costs around £120 or thereby.
Cheers

You can always take it to another dealer and get a 'second opinion' if yours is insisting on doing the underbody sealant. Just had my 15K (equiv to the 12 month) done at Cheam Motors and it wasn't mentioned.

There is a separate section in the service book that they stamp and you have to counter sign.
It is worth shopping around as I have just had mine done and the proce was either £120 or £50 - where is the logic in that??

Anti-corrosion warranty becomes invalid if you don't carry this out within 13 months of registration........or that's what I've read anyway. Shop around though as it's only £94.00 from the dealers around here.
Thing is.....where does the existing sealant go to in 13 months? Is the factory stuff applied so badly that it needs topping up? I must be missing something here because I'm sure they're not doing it just to make some extra bucks out of us .
Otis.
P.S. I understand the body service is also required at year 3 and 5 if you want to keep your anti-corrosion warranty.

It's 3 hours labour, so whatever your dealer charges for that.
Like it's been said above, it must be done within 13 months of first registration to keep the bodywork (anti-corrosion) warranty valid. It also has to be done within a month of the 3-year and 5-year anniversaries of the first registration to keep the full 6 year warranty.
You get a stamp in a separate part of the service book, and the dealer tears out a section, which I assume they send to IM as proof of you having the service done.

Do keep the bodywork warranty, you must have the checkup & the book stamped with the sticker. It is for the dealer to decide what needs to be done to keep the car up to scratch. If you have the stamp - you're covered.
