Cool Forester XT

Friends of ours have got themselves a 2.0 XT and wifey having seen it is smitten I'm not complaining either

So we are investigating getting one, budget at around £10K max & non auto (so 30-40K miles) & probably an 03 or an 04 at those sort of prices.

What should we know about them? Anything to look out for or be aware of? Servicing intervals? Hopefully better than an Impreza Turbo! What else? MPG?

I've had an MY99 Impreza Turbo from new to 100K, so not new to scoobs, but anything Forester specific?

Having 2 scoobs in the family will be good

Anyone want a cheap Mini Cooper?

Just needs some proper tyres and a stiffer ARB.

I switched an 01 wagon for a 2.5XT Forester - much better day to day drive, and internal build quality a big step up from impreza - still poor compared to wifes audi though. 30k miles so far and no mechanical problems.
Does roll a bit in corners at high speed - I use mine for blue light response driving, and avoided getting into trouble so far though. Brakes not as bad as imprezas, but still not great. Service interval 10k. Bodywork/paint quality crap - walk past within 10 feet and it scratches.
Torque better than standard impreza, PPP very much worthwhile. MPG similar to impreza.

What you need is a bigger ARB, and decent wheels and tyres, then some braces front and back, Whiteline springs and oh bugger ..............

remember it only "costs £50" if the wife asks

Thats my line dammit

There's nothing 'odd' about the Foz James, it just needs some minor fettling for optimum output...
