Sti is better in every respect except

1) Firmer Ride (if you can call it a negative)
2) Lower MPG
3) Higher Running Costs

I looked at getting an sti and test drove 2, but settled on a 2003 WRX rather than a 2002 sti, mainly due to the higher running costs, but after driving the two, if I could warrant the extra costs would have had the sti as was more raw to drive, I would say Wrx for day to day running, but if doing low miles or can afford 16-18mpg then the sti is the one to have, but saying that I still think my WRX is great, just 2 different cars to drive. If I compare to fords, then the WRX is the standard cosworth and the sti is the RS500 with all the goodies installed for further mods.

As above it depends on what running costs you can afford. As for colour I'd never have a black car again unless you can wash it every day. I like the sti in the crystal grey I think it's called.

What it costs is not much of a problem since i only get about 220-240miles to a tank etc at the moment. It wont be black, i had a black car before and it was a pain

Now that looks nice, i like it in silver, not sure about white. Is it a bit of a Chav colour or not?

I get more than that in a Spec C, about 22mpg on a regular basis. Makes all the difference

WRX PPP is as quick if not quicker than an STI. However STI is different car totally and feels more like a rally car. Stiffer suspension. Much better gearbox. Just better overall feel about it. Stick PPP or remap on an STI and its a must have. Still loved my WRX mind but it was to me a watered down STI. Running costs are pretty much similar but STI is worth the little extra. I am sure that anyone that has owned or driven an STI would not prefer a WRX...

STi allday long. I run MY03 STi as a daily driver. Had a classic, then wrx and now the STi. There is no comparison.
Saying a wrx ppp will keep up with or possibly beat an sti is rubbish. In the real world the STi would destroy it, not paper figures.
It really is a much more focused car, but still useable everday.
Obviously easier to mod aswell, but its never ending..... Now where did I put that new turbo............................................. ............................

Lol, in the real world there is probably less between them than on paper..!

Don't forget the STI weighs over 100kg more than the WRX..!

Having had a 2ltr 53WRX PPP and a 2.5ltr MY06 STI I can honestly say that the STi will win all day long. There is no comparison !

However, with relatively few mods the WRX is stonking (view my scooby) ! and more than a match for the 2ltr MY05 STi in standard form.

The biggest and best difference is the move from 2 to 2.5 Ltrs which is a whole diffferent discussion. With similar mods to the MY06 that I applied to the WRX the results are even better (view my scooby)

The sti also has better suspension, brakes, gearbox, basically everything that improves drivability in the real world. I can say as an owner of both that the sti is better in everyway.
Can you

I think so too. Black has less paint so is faster, but white has lightweight panels.

An STI is an all round better car with more scope for tuning and can take more flak - i.e. stronger internals and gearbox.

This is true.

Some Sti owners don't seem keen on the six spd box, the spool and the ride, but other than that, great car.

The BRAKES are awesome on an STI, the extras are a bonus, engine safe to over 400 bhp, WRX safe to 330 (?)

The WRX is a great car, ride is nicer.... for the family

STI is harsh over ridges, but handles superbly

In terms of power/torque the WRX engine can cope with quite a bit. Only thing is the gearbox can't ! (That's where the 350bhp mods limit that peeps sometimes guesstimate comes in).

So, what do the STi owners think of their lady's box ?

Leave my Missus out of this, lol.

Red is the best colour(see my Scooby).dont think you can get them in Standard STi's though.

I have had WRX and now have a STi, the difference is totallt out of this world, WRX was good as a all round car but my STi is superior in every way, No problems with the 6 speed box and i can cruise through town in 5th, i couldn't in my WRX(30 MPH).

Then again mine is a Spec C LTD.
