Default help please ripped off

hello
my scoobys engine blew up,con rod snapped and smashed engine to bits, was doing 150mph.
got a quote for a fully reconditioned engine from a place called macc (midland auto care center) in birmingham, it cost me 2500 pound, got car back, macc had smashed my front bumper, various scratches to car, electrical faults, broke glove box and left chicken bones in engine bay, worsed of all i got ripped they fitted a second hand engine with loads of oil leaks and basically have nearly destroyed my car,my scooby is my pride and joy,had loads of hassle over the months with the company, now in hands of solicitors, might have to goto court, they are a bunch of liers and con artists,i live in newcastle upon tyne which is 4 hrs drive to birmingham,i basically would like to know if anyone else has been conned or have used this garage,or had any problems at all with them, they say they are a big company and say they are the best at scoobys,if possible could someone check them out for me,even a drive past to see if its a small buisness,i know i will get done even at court if i win and the only way i will get copensation is if i find out where the bosses house is in birmingham,so the court can send the baylifts round.
honestly this has had me head done in for months any bodys help will be excellent.
i have the name of boss the address of unit, and phone numbers to contact maccs,if this would help
cheers phil

Keep cool, keep careful notes and keep all documents and your records of conversations.
Photo's will help too.

Let the law carry the case and I hope you get justice.

Good luck.

Your legal man will look after you.
Small claims court, nice and fast.
He will know what to do.

Pointless asking 'why' questions, but fix the future. 'Don't get mad, get EVEN!'

Unfortunately the "recon" trick is an old one. What standards are applied to reconditioning an engine is dubious at best. One would be led to believe it would be stripped, cleaned, inspected worn parts replaced, reassembled, and tested, so would be as new. But the reality could be it just had a external visual inspection (i.e it started and ran on all cylinders = ok ).

The case will be be proving that you were told/sold that the recon will be a "as new engine" and proving what you have isn't anything of the like.

Best of luck.

hello
i know i was that desperate to get the scooby back on the road i just went with this firm for quickness and they sounded to be realy good, but might aswell of had all my teeth knocked out,you would not belive what conversations i have had with them and letters i have recieved,i will issue court procedings by my soliciter but macc have stalled again by saying they have there soliciter on the case now and were going to get back in touch with my soliciter, macc boss said to my soliciter that they have just took over company and it was in a right mess, but thats stalling talk as the first thing i got off the company was a buisness card and it has the bosses name on who was in charge of the firm when my car got wrecked and its the same name boss who spoke to my soliciter last week/
i have been told by my soliciter that this matter would not be the worth the paper its wrote on even if i win the court case they just dont pay up,the only thing i can do is send the baylifts round to bosses house,i know for a fact they wont pay up,to much said, too many lies and alot of other things.

i was going to buy a fully reconditioned engine off ebay or get a local garage to do it but it was going to take weeks,i could of got my pal to fit it,hes got his own garage in newcastle.i wish i had of done but i got done good style in end of day, might have too take matters in to my own hands if i get nothing out of the courts, just go down and take some stuff out of there garage, sell it myself.what i load of rubbish the law is for things like this.

Good luck mate - hope they get screwed for it

I had a similar problem with Sextons once with my old car - I advised them the front bumper was low and not to drive it into the sloped workshop area. Picked it up after work to find the front bumper all scratched - felt like smacking em.

They said I done it and it wasn't them!? I could prove this with photos taken just before and managed to make them pay up without going through court

what does it matter where he did it or even if he actually did it, why is this the first comment people come out with whenever anyone mentions speeds above 70mph??

The guy asked a question, If you can't answer it then why bother even commenting???

If the company are limited then the boss is not personally responsible for any company debts, so sending the bailiffs to his home address is not an option.

Another tip, wouldn't buy recon engines fom ebay, all seem too cheap. A mate of my Dad works for a Sub dealer, and THEY bought recon engine for £1500, which was cr*p and blew up, most of the ones on ebay are around £700........
And claim to have had so much work done, they obviously havnt, as they would be worth a lot more. Go to Alyn, genuine bloke, most on tyneteesscoobies would recommend

Are you all sure this isnt a wind up, me smells a rat. Lost my user name and password, logged on again.I was doing 150 MPH of course you where.

Something isnt right, send your car to a garage you have never seen 4 hours from home, cough up £2,500.00 without seeing the car ? Let me think.

One trip on here you could search for reputable repairers in seconds.

If you are genuine and you have admitted to being on here before under another name you should know whats what in the Subaru world, not doing the basics you deserve to have your kecks yanked down for being some what stupid.
