Thumbs up I've seen the new WRX in the metal

I'm just back from a couple of weeks holiday in the States. During my time there I happened to pass a Scoob dealer who had a new WRX in stock, so I had a quick look over, and.....well it was much better than I expected. They look better in the metal than they do in the photos.

Interior looked to be of a much better spec than the current and general fit and finish looked good as well. Reviews in the US mag (Car and Driver) says it's not as wild as the old WRX, but much more refined. Guess the STi will fill the gap.

So....I'd be more inclined to buy one having seen one, it will depend on price. US sticker price was $27k, given the current exchange rate this would be £14k approx. At that price I'd buy one tomorrow, more likely to be £20K based on current IM practice, and that's too much IMHO.

People will have their own perceptions of the new model. But, I like many am reserving my viewpoint till I see one in the flesh. Preferably the STi version

Will post the photos later....but they don't do the car justice IMHO, you have to *see* it. Best bit for me was the price $27k which is about the same as a Mini Cooper S over there IIRC.

I thought the S-GT was for the JDM market, and possibly Aus.. replacing the WRX, while the USA was keeping the WRX. With European markets including us not getting either.. it's either the NA blandmobile or wait for the STi, unless of course you buy an import.

Just looking at that picture of the engine bay...
Is that manifold made from plastic?

You know, it really looked OK in the metal, but by the time I'd seen it I'd spent a week in a Trailblazer and I was starting to think that was OK...

Thought I'd read that we were now getting the WRX in the UK?

Saw loads of WRXs and EVOs, makes we wonder how they manage to get any joy out of driving them, given the way in which they drive in general over there.

That manifold may well have been plastic. The salesman took great delight in showing me how much space was left for a bigger turbo, for after market mods

Yup manifold on the 08's is plastic. Intercooler looks a little small as well
