Hi All,

If you remember, just before Christmas I asked about starting a DIY/FAQ section on Scoobynet. Well, I've been in consultation with Shaun over the festive period and the good news is that it's going to happen. Soooooo

I'm looking to gather as many "how to's" as possible to get this started. Example: How to change the front brake pads, how to change the spark plugs etc. So if any of you have any "how to's" (with pictures if possible) please could you send them to me.

Once we have enough information to be of use we will update the site accordingly.

Many thanks go already to Simon and Chiark who have already submitted stuff.

Cheers

Gazza

Cool

Hi All,

Remember, even if you've not got anything to contribute now, keep this in mind for later when you may do something to the car that might be useful to others.

Cheers

How about adding a list of who to go for for a particular item, there are alway posts about "where do I go for this, Where can I get that". Not all parts are as good as others, some people have a budget to keep to, this would also be a good feadback structure for the suppliers. I spent 3 months trying to find a spoiler, then decided to try and fit it myself, not all spoilers have the same fitting options.

How to change a backbox...

Scott T. sent me this, as I have just purchased a Magnex Back Box from him. Scott - Hope you don't mind me volunteering your words:

With regard to fitting it, all you will need is a couple of 14mm
spanners (preferably ring spanners) or 1 Spanner and a 14mm socket wrench (17mm will be required if using the Magnex supplied fitting kit).

1) Jack the rear of the car up and support it.
2) Undo the 2 14mm bolts holding the rear box to the center section.
3) Remove the 14mm bolt from the exhaust rubber mounting behind the bumper on the left hand side.
4) Pull Exhaust from all 3 rubber mountings.
5) Remove rubber mountings and lubricate with washing up liquid (it works better than oil)
6) Fit rubber mounting to Magnex
7) Fit Magnex to mounting hangers and refit 14mm bolt to rear mounting.
8) Apply a small amount of Exhaust sealing paste to Magnex and system.
9) Align and refit bolts.
10) Lower car to ground.

11) Start Engine and Enjoy.........

Question

In the latest edition of the True Grip SIDC magazine there was an article on changing pads (and possibly discs) with pictures and blurb.

Perhaps if asked nicely they might allow you to use the pictures and words in the FAQ?
