Default SHOULD I BE WORRIED ABOUT THIS?????

To cut along story short.
My car is due to be mapped by Bob Rawle on the 8th September.
However, the mechanic who works on my car could only fit me in last minute yesterday to fit the mods, i.e Full decat exhaust and sports headers. It has already been fitted with a Walbra fuel pump and HKS panel filter.

Is it safe to drive before the map?

I have driven it slowly for around a mile and it feels abit lump or abit like the timing is slightly out.

If i drive it steady for a few miles will the landba sensor alter the fueling and air to a slight degree so it runs abit smoother ?

should be fine, maybe try to stay off boost as much as possible though if you are worried.

Really pissed off as wanted Bob Rawle to map my car but having had two engines go pop before i just can't risk driving it for another 4 weeks like it is

I know Powerstation are good and it's booked in with them for next Wednesday, but rather Bob had done it!

i would have definately held out for Bob to do the work. I went down the route as you before and it cost me 3.5k on a new engine. Hope it all works for you though seem to be plenty of success stories for both.

Agreed, I'd have waited for Bob.

Wouldn't it have been better to get the mods fitted by someone else nearer September..?
I'm sure you could have, as fitting the exhaust isn't exactly rocket science and any decent mechanic would be capable. Where as mapping is a totally different story, it's all about mapper..!

I think you've put the cart before the horse..

BTW there are loads of threads on mods before mapping and their effect, should have done a search..!

I agree totally, but had so many mechanics rip me off or do a crap job i now stick to the one i know

It is the cart before the horse, least i only have to wait 5 days and will take it really steady.

Feel guilty as think i've pissed Bob off as well

Just have to see what Wednesday brings

I've heard powerstation are good! had no direct experience myself mind.

Am I right in thinking they use a rolling road and Bob is a road map?

That's correct and what environment most closely resembles real world driving (i.e. what the map needs to be set up for)?

Well at least some lucky sod will be able to get their map done quicker..!

You've pi55ed him off because he's probably been inundated with dozens of requests to take your slot..

Unhappy

You would have been fine just driving around in cruise mode - just off boost - you could also have stuck in some octane booster as an extra safeguard.

Bob is the man - I'd have waited.

Correct me if i'm wrong (and i could be) but a de-cat and panel filter isn't gonna cause any major problems with the standard ecu. The ecu does have certain learning abilitys and i'm sure it can cope with these minor mods.

I got my mods done week before going to see Bob & drove from the garage to see Bob, off boost of course! Take it easy between now & getting the remap done is my advice.

If you was booked in with Bob Rawle and was unsure as you say you was, didn't you think to ask his advice before cancelling with him ?

I did he told me to put mods on just before mapping but my mate could only fit them in the other day, leaving it around 4 weeks.
